Perhaps he thought it was a witty mockery of an icon? You know - one of those designs no one buys but is supposed to be an intellectual effort....

I agree with you Liberte. Anyone entitled to his/her own creations. I think MJ's creations are beautiful, new, excentric, and dare to be different. That is why he is BIG and not many people can do something like he does. Can you?

Fluoro orange and a sort of dusky lilac? With gold hardware??
If thats a birkin colour combo, you wouldn't ask that question, right?

In all fairness, MJ has helped catapult Louis Vuitton from a staid, boring brand to a refreshing, bold and creative label. But then who can forget that awful but expensive patchwork LV bag? No offense to MJ fans but I hope he never joins Hermes.

You people are such elitist snobs. Marc Jacobs is a genius. He's created an epic piece that combines the legendary, but now cheesy Chanel and Hermes signatures. It is a parody of exclusivity and high-nosed self-promotion. Kudos to MJ for creating the People's Revolutionary Bag. I mean, look at the patent orange on a lilac quilted background - how do you come up with something so original and brilliant? My hat's' off to you, MJ.

Long Live the Revolution and Struggle!

....

JUST KIDDING!

Just my personal thought: I quite like his clothing designs (not quality, because it's quality is deteriorating. I buy Marc By Marc Jacobs, maybe because this is the second line, quality is not as good as MJ)

However, this new bag is definitely not my cup of tea, the hardware/lock/turnkey is just a copy of a Hermes Kelly bag, even the wordings inscribed are at the same place. The colour combination is quite odd too. The bag looks quite funny to me.

I wish this was done in a funnier, more irreverent way--maybe brighter colors all around? If it's meant to be serious, then "No, thanks."
