Jewelweed, she's perfect!!! I would've loved this little Kelly clutch as a first Hermes bag! You are so lucky to have her! Congrats!!

I need support. Missing out on some great deals because I don't have the funds right now and am feeling sad. We have kids and although technically there is enough for me to get me a Kelly, it would be wrong to use it all on one bag. DH agreed I could start saving every month until I have enough. At the rate I am going it will take a good year. Please help motivate me to stay on track and not buy the little things. We started with $200 today. Tell me not to go buy a little piece of leather and save up for the big dream Kelly I want. Am willing to get it used on eBay to make my dreams come true faster. =)

littlesnowflake, like kelly_birkin said, keep the faith.

don't worry about the "great deals" you are seeing on eBay right now - there will be great deals a year later, too. and even though it's tempting to get "a little bit of H" to tide you over, it's usually the "good" things in life that keep us from the best things.

wish our little H support group could meet up in real life sometimes...

ok, i just have to post here again, this time because *i* need support...

i've always just bought bags on a whim, whenever i liked them, and because i could - but of course, as we all know, hermes bags are on a completely different level. i've whittled down my non-hermes bag collection a lot but at some point i decided to stop selling because i do love the bags that i have.

but now that i'm not selling, and now that my income will be a lot less in the next 3 years (as i've told people, i'm still working and earning money, but a lot of that money will go toward law school) i won't be able to buy another hermes bag until i graduate and find a (well!-)paying job. i'm tempted to buy little pieces of H, like littlesnowflake mentioned, but that's money that could go toward my next dream H bag.

so... i'm kind of going cold turkey... not just staying away from H, but staying away from all the bags i indulged in for the past two years... i don't know if i can do this!

you can do it. I'm in my 6th month of bag ban and I'm going strong (although I'm going to FSH next month to place an order. does that count, even if my bag will arrive more than a year later?).

try to focus on other things, or persons, like your fiancé.

there are more things in life more interesting than bags--and that's coming from a bag whore like myself.

wow, allan, 6th month of a bag ban!!! that's intense. i don't know how you manage to stay on tPF, surfing the hermes finds thread, and not feel tempted to pull the trigger on your credit card! i think the longest i've ever lasted between bag purchases is 1 month

anyway, i guess i'll soon have to focus on studying, so hopefully that will take the edge off of the obsession. plus there are so many delicious pictures of bags here to keep me motivated in saving!

Perhaps the following things have helped me in my bag ban:

1. Not having a credit card.
- I let my old credit cards expire since they are from the country where I came from, and I want to have credit cards which are Denmark-based.

2. Expenses of moving to another country.
- I have incurred a few debts moving and trying to settle in this country. Thank God I'm almost done paying them all.

3. High price of what I want
- Right now, the H bags I can afford are Sac Harnais or a travel Victoria in canvas, and I don't want those. I want to get the bag that I want and I don't want to buy a bag just for the sake of acquiring an Hermes bag.

4. Not many men in this subforum. Less people to envy.
- Good thing castorny doesn't like to do reveals (he's shy). Otherwise, I'd be really envious of each and every one of his acquisition. There is also jaegerhomme but other than those guys, I don't have many to envy around here. Although when DiamondS did a reveal once and it included my dream bag (her 40 cm travel HAC in barenia and toile), I cried inside.

I guess when I'm into my first year of bag ban, I'd be very proud of myself. I'd celebrate.

hi everyone...i'm having guilty feelings about getting another H bag so soon (got my first one last april).. although i do have the funds for the next one, i told myself to control and get maybe one or 2 a year versus getting 2-4 chanels a year.. there's no H store where I live so I'm at the mercy of resellers' stock... i opted for a 25 cm rouge birkin which she'll order for me but she has a 30cm tabac camel available now.. now i am so torn which to get as i know i will be utilizing the tabac a lot (i compute the bags price versus how much mileage i get out of it..haha) i don't talk about this to my friends as i got a lot of flak for my last purchase (they said its unbelievable that i pay so much for a bag blah blah) and to add to my dilemma, my jeweller offers me this gorgeous platinum antique tennis bracelet... telling me that jewelry is more of an investment than a bag... i am so torn!!!! i really do love bags so much. and the thought on getting my hands on the tabac or rouge is torture....just venting... any advice?

Ya know, I got that same judgmental commentary when I purchased my first Birkin. Then I realized, ain't no one's business but mine, and to each there own how we choose to spend! My husband tells me to get the best of the best, rather than many of the worst things you'll regret having bypassed the best for. I agree with that, so he's wholeheartedly letting me budget for my H collection.

Now about that dilemna -- if you have a select number of things you know you're gonna wear, and this bracelet is one of them, go for it! But you've been saving for that H bag..something tells me any one of us when faced with that choice, might choose the H.. :}

ya i wear bags everyday but not bracelets..haha.. now my dilemma is between a 25cm rouge g or a 30 cm tabac... my other birkin is a 35gold... is tabac too similar to gold? my mind says tabac (more usable) but my crazy self says red...

Blue Genes, Oh no, I don't want to think of that. That seems forever away. I must go cold turkey with you.

allanrvj, I always have to remind myself about your point #3. Even though I can afford to get the Evelyn or Picotin sooner, I really want the Kelly and have to remind myself not to buy just because it's an H and more quickly attainable.

lfg, I suppose it depends also if you don't mind the size? Since one is 25 and one is 30. It's a tough choice since I like both the browns and reds. I think both can work as neutrals.

Lumchan, my husband tells me the same thing. I was so tempted to go to LV today and just buy something just to temporarily satisfy my craving for an H, but he reminded me that I will still be wanting my Kelly tomorrow. He is so right.

Kelly_birkin, thanks for the support along the way.

Knowing there are others out there in this crazy purse world is finally slowly getting me out of the funk I've been in. Hard as it was, I was able to pass H and not step inside. I withdrew $100 of the money I was going to spend on a Twilly and quickly put it into my Kelly fund. It's so painfully slow in the beginning, isn't it.

Hahah, it's true. This is why I dance. I have these PMS cravings for things Hermes, and then the next 3 weeks are spent going to ballet class and expending whatever energy I would use calling up my SA, browsing eBay and hermes.com, or lurking on tPF.

Jewelweed, I guess I had your beautiful KP on my mind,
that I accidentally called you KP as well.
Oops. Sorry.

BlueGenes, I admire your willpower!
When it comes to credit cards, I say, "okay,
you have the available credit, but how much
money do you actually have?" that prevents
me from doing something that I shouldn't.

I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!! *LOL*

lfg, just take it one day at a time. :)
and I'm with you, I can't tell family and non-tpf
friends, they'd never understand, and would take
me up to task for wanting something so expensive.
