DH is in the Finance Business. As you may well know it has taken rather a batterting of late. Its scary!!!!
DH is fab, and very hard-working, he is a true entrepeneur!!! But it comes at a price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We have had to sell our dream home on two occasions, and it has broken my heart. We are currently in a nice house, but I still yearn for my last house!!! I guess, I cant complain, Sometimes we are UP , sometimes we are DOWN!!! UP is very, very good, DOWN is very very BAD. Sometimres i feel sad, that I may not get another H bag, but then I am luckier than others, and I am thankful for that!!!!! |

Great thread, S!
My name is Elle Tee and my dream H collection would include: Black Birkin 35 with gold in a floopy leather, Black Box Kelly 32 retourne with gold, Black Jumping Boots, a Kelly Elan (again, black box w/ gold) and a Lindy, probably in graphite/ardoise, bleu paon, raisin, or indigo. That's not to mention piles of scarves, cashmeres, a wallet, agenda, bracelets... you get the picture! I'm in school right now (law school, one year left) but since my grades last year were not stellar, I am several years off from a job that will pay Hermes money. Even then, I would prefer to buy a home before I got a Birkin. My BF would love to be able to buy me whatever I want, and although his job pays well, it's still not Birkin money. Also, he was just unemployed for two months, so we have some debts to pay off. I also ran up my credit cards pretty badly last year, and had almost paid them off completely, but then we moved in together and bought furniture, then he lost his job, then christmas... so they went up again, and I have to pay that off before I can think about buying even scarves or little things. I feel pretty fortunate that my H collection already includes 1 gavroche, 1 pointu, 2 carres, and a clic-clac. When I get out of CC debt I think I will be able to afford small H items more often, but it still won't be a regular thing, and certainly no bags! I do have a savings account that is my shopping account, though. I transfer in money whenever I can, even if it's $10. It is also linked to my checking account which I buy food, etc. out of, and my bank has a program that rounds up debit purchases to the nearest dollar and adds the difference to your savings. That adds up too, and feeling like I have even $200 saved towards a Birkin means that it's just a matter of time before I get it, which even if it's a loooong time, is a lot better than "maybe one day if you're lucky." |

i'm glad i'm not alone in the struggle to save for my dream birkin.. and i'm glad that we have a thread where we can all support each other while waiting for our bags!
RBB.. I know that your dream birkin will come sooner than you think! Hi everyone i'm Kayla! I am currently a student living on my BF in Boston where everything is super expensive! It's so hard to try to save for H when I constantly need books & supplies for class and all of my other bills (i know most of you can relate) and anything else that pops up. My BF always talks about how some day he's going to buy me so much H (it's so cute when he talks handbags) and i know he will, but it won't be for some years to come. I have always been in love with fashion, but for the past 2 years i have become obsessed with the birkin. Every night i look forward to coming on the site and admiring everyones GORGEOUS bags and accessories! I know that my time will come, but it's going to be awhile! My goal is to try an obtain one before i graduate.. lets all keep our fingers crossed! My dream bag is... a 35cm Birkin, in Rouge VIF, Buffalo leather with Gold Hardware, but a more realistic dream is a 35cm Birkin, in Rouge Garance, Clemence leather with Gold hardware |

Oh my god - this is great!!!
My names Paula and am at college so not having a full time jobs doesnt help!! I had the money in december for my dream birkin but life took a suprizing turn and I had to put the money to something else - due to some really nice people breaking in to and stealing my dads car,it became a right off & they had to get a new one - due to both my parents being retired and with helping me with my study I felt it had to be my place to help them when I had money in the bank, plus i know a birkin will be coming to mama one day!! haha My dream bags are: Birkin 40cm Rouge not sure of leather, Kelly in black and another colour. And to be honest any other H bag I can get my hands on!!! |

Just told my DH about this thread and as he's fed up with me talking about Birkins, he said"Why don't you just buy one?" Should have seen his face when I told him the price! He did say he'd like to go to Paris though but not to look at handbags. I shall sit here thinking of different ways to economise. So far have come up with giving up chocolate (bit harsh) and selling my daughters dog(that'll teach her to say I'm getting obsessed!!!!) DH says if I gave up buying magazines I'd soon get one. I do buy lots but don't drink or smoke so feel able to have 1 vice! Keep dreaming girls.

So good to hear how some amazing ladies put their children and loved ones first over a handbag, And they are just Handbags, albeit lovely ones , is it really worth getting in debt for, or is it really worth spending negative time on. I am lucky enough too have a couple of kellys but , when the search saving is over and you have the bag, I sometimes look at them and think are they really worth all that money?? Maybe its the chase. |

Temo, what a fab idea. Since you are the brains behind it, I think you should start it off. |

ocmommy, (((hugs))) for you and your daughter.
I have a special needs sister. She lives in a group home and comes home for regular visits. temo, that's interesting...if you build it, they will come. I love your idea on the fantasy picture thread. :) chigal, I hope that you get well soon. :) Agent Kitty, what an interesting story. Thank you for sharing. I would say don't feel guilty, if you have the money, and you have a Birkin and Kelly on order--go for it! Love them and enjoy them. Your husband sounds like a sweetie, not because he can buy you those things, but because of the gesture. I know what you mean about a guilt, here I am on the other side of the financial spectrum, and if anyone from family, friends, acquaintances, KNEW I wanted a H bag (or two...or three) ![]() and how much they cost, I'd be getting all sorts of insults thrown at me. candace, my one school friend has a husband in Iraq, and when she mentioned to me a few weeks ago how much he makes, I couldn't believe it...they deserve so much more. bagluv, hi!! Suzie, sometimes I think I'll only have one H bag in my life, and that's okay. :) mpa, sending (((Hugs))) your way!! I really hope that you get your Birkin. I'm glad to hear that you are walking.

I get much more out of my service than a paycheck and do not regret it for a second.

Hi, I'm Jamie and I have been obsessed with handbags and especially Hermes for years. I am in my mid-20s and I have a great job, but the paycheck is eaten up by my large amount of college and law school debt since I don't work for a law firm.
However, I have hope that one day I will manage to get a great job or a rich husband and buy all of the H that I want. And I do want lots -- probably at least one of each from most of the styles that I've seen. But I especially want my dream bag -- a 25cm or 30cm Birkin in graphite, but lined inside in rose shocking. I've even dreamed about this bag. I have no idea if this combination is even possible, because if I found out that it was possible for sure, I might do something stupid and buy it when I definitely can't afford it.But I am allowing myself to get into loving H. I love my H scarves! I have 3 90cm, 1 70cm, and 2 gavroche pochettes. And I'm thinking about a Ulysse notebook for a journal -- gorgeous and useful! Sorry for the long rant and I'm looking forward to seeing some of these H dreams come true!
