bagpunk, I've seen some older vintage (seems
like a redundant phrase. *lol*) on some consignment
sites.

And if you are unsure, you can always link it on the
authenticate this thread. :)

I went back to the clubhouse thread - go kelly go. . . post 519 (perlerare talks about the craft of sellier vs. retourne) and earlier in the thread, dates March 9 onward, about 1990's kelly bags Go Kelly Go!!!

Will go back to see if I can pinpoint this more closely

Oops! Wrong thread. :)

On topic for this board:

I love the classic lines of a H bag,
that's what sets it apart from the rest. :)

thanks K_B! i am not so in love with kelly at this moment unfortunately. kelly is too feminine a style for me. at least for now. but will be browsing for sure!

for me, vintage is all about the patina you know? so it is all about the leathers in the end. with H style is not so much a factor for me because they are so evergreen. and craftsmanship has been as good now as it was years ago (unlike some things).

the other thing about kelly is: i always wonder, how hard is it to get in and out of that bag? unlike a birkin, you can't carry it opened no?

robee, what is your favorite Kelly style: Sellier or Retourne? (I hope I got the spelling right on the last one.)

bagpunk, I wish I could answer your Kelly questions. But there are many tpf Kelly owners who can. :) There's so many H bags that rarely get a mention, but every so often someone will scan photos from the Brand Mall catalogs. :)

Bagpunk, nope you cannot carry open, but after a week or so opening the straps go really fast. Re your evergreen comment above, I have read on this forum that the craftsmanship is not the same, but that the sellier kelly is still the bag reserved for the highest craftsmen (due to complexity). I am a newbie to bags (have only collected since November and full disclosure I am not a birkin gal) so this is strictly based on my interpretation of what I have read on this forum.

cheers!

kelly_birkin : i didn't know my heart belongs to which till I read through the thread "go kelly go" last night. It has to be the box sellier. I always though my first kelly has to be new. Now I don't mind getting even vintage. The older bags have so much character in them.

I loove the older bags robee, they have a history and in the case of exotics they are much less expensive than new

robee, you can't really go wrong. :)

There's some vintage bags out there that look
brand new because the owner took very good
care of them. :)

I think the Kelly is very easy to get in and out of. (Full disclosure, not really a Birkin girl, more of a Kelly girl)

Sellier Box Kelly is my fave too robee

mearns - yes, other than the character in them, i noticed they have a more affordable price-tag. Some are really well-taken care of

kelly_birkin - will definitely look for one when I can afford, for now, I can look at members' kelly and drool

pug*shoes - I hope to get my first kelly soon....... and hopefully a vintage one

Hello to all:
I have a particular yearningfor a Kelly as well. My hubby says no but give me time, oh yes just give me time! I already have a Herbag and a Bolide. Sounds silly of me but I bought the Herbag hoping that since it's been discontinued I could make a profit...is that even possible?
Would be happy to find a pre-loved Kelly 37 in one of the blues.
