A mini-whine: it's so hard to pass up a dream bag when it's overpriced! I saw a 30 cm raisin Birkin (togo leather) with PHW, but it's more than I'm willing to pay for it. So I'm reluctantly letting it go and forcing myself to patiently wait until another 30 cm raisin Birkin crosses my path. Grrrr, gotta have discipline....
By the way, I agree with the ladies who advise saving for one H bag instead of buying multiple other bags. My bag stash contains only one Chanel and one Coach. Seeing all the lovely pics here reminds me why I'm limiting myself to only two bags right now: I want the third to be an H bag! |

^^That's what I figure. LV's aren't cheap and if you are buying several per year, just start saving instead and a (an?) Hermes purchase can be achieved!
Sorry about your raisin, Kenzie, but you know we are all sending good H thoughts! |

Hi everyone here....I meant to raise a point that is seldom raised but I am sure it will make a few of you SUDDENLY VERY HOPEFUL
![]() It is like this : if you buy a Birkin from the store ( I mean at retail price), you may consider your money very wisely invested. You can use your Birkin ( with care, but not necessary to baby it...) and when you decide you need your money, you can sell your Birkin. Not only you will get your money back, but you will most likely make a profit. ( the more you stay, the more you get ....and of course profit depends on the specs of your bag, excalty as resale value depends on some criteria as for real estate or cars...). This works with the Kelly too, but you'll have to stick with your investment for a few more months ( years).... otherwise you'll lose about up to 30%....The more you stay invested the more you'll get your money back.... ![]() Other H bags do not give you that benefit, neither any other bag from any other brand as far as I know.....If you decide to sell a bag you have used, you'll get 1/4 value if you are lucky to work with a serious consignement store.... ![]() So, I leave it to your thoughts.....Isn't it pleasant to know that the money you have put in your Birkin or Kelly is still there, while you enjoy using your bag everyday ???? ![]()

^^ That's a good point, though I've yet to convince DH of that fact. He just looks at me like
when I use "purse" or "diamonds" in the same sentence as "investment."

I bought my first Hermes bag as a walk-in, a Birkin right out of a shrink-wrapped box from a H store. With such luck, I was totally hooked! Got a Kelly 3 months later. Unfortunately, I am absolutely NOT ALLOWED to buy H on ebay, but am lucky have seen many nice Kellys around where I live and have ordered another Birkin due next year. The wait is killing me! In the meantime I am checking every H I can get to. I'm wishing you guys all the strongest orange vibes I can, sorry to hear about rude/snobbish SAs!

P-B, the Herbag is cute! I'd like one someday. :)
perlerare, I agree that you can definitely resell these bags and try to get some of the money back. But for how long it is taking me to save for a H bag - unless I really, really, really had to, I would dread selling it. |

As several of you know by now, I had sent my beloved Vache naturelle Birkin to the spa in Paris a few months ago, and I've just been told by my store, that it came back badly damaged
, so now Paris will make me a new one......Altough I've been told that it will have priority, I have no idea when I'll get it.....and I'm very sad b/c I was so fond of my "old" one!!!!

^ Oh wow, sorry to hear about that! I mean it is very good of them to get you a new one, but i understand what you are saying, bags carry memories!!
Well, I am 20, at University studying dentistry, I am a bag lover and my obsession started with LV. I do still love LV, but like the other ladies have said on here, i figured if i keep buying LV there is NO way i will be able to get myself a birkin. I am planning to get my birkin once I have graduated -> 2011, by then i feel i have earned a birkin and that i will be able to carry such an amazing bag. I think that if i did get a birkin now it would just overwhelm me! I would then LOVE to have the chance of being able to have a rose dragee 30cm birkin, in swift I think with phw (that is just in my dreams!) I really don't think i would need any other bag!!! For now, i have set myself a treat if i pass my 2nd year exam, i get my results in april, so if i pass I will get myself an agenda in poitron with a twilly, just to start me off. After that probably at the end of this year i would like a PM picotin in etoupe. So there is my H story so far xx |

duna, sorry, no crocodile tears for you!!
Consider it a blessing to be having a new one made, though I do understand why you would mourn the loss of your old one for sentimental reasons. Luva Pug, sounds like an excellent plan. Just sack away a set amount of money each month until you graduate. I'm sure you have enough LV to hold you over. Think about how much more exciting it will be to own that Birkin rather than 8 LVs. I wish I had that foresight at your age!Kelly_Birkin, the more "in action" pics I see with the Herbag, the more I am convinced that that will make me H. happy in the meantime while waiting for my other dream bags. |
