You will be even more thrilled when you use your bag everyday...! I ostrich ! it is such a beautiful skin, it wears like iron, gets a fabulous patina .... and it makes you stand out of the crowd.

catabie, for the most part, I tend to like the look
of Ostrich Birkins better than the ones in Croc. Especially in a color like raisin or gold. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your dream bag. :) |

Ahhhh, one of my HG birkins is on ebay right now for a pretty reasonable price (i.e.- without an exorbitant markup) but I just can't afford it right now!! I have other priorities with my money right now (have to pay off my student loans and save up money for moving to France)...but man oh man...if I could only get it, I totally would!

mimi, Moving to France? How exciting. :)
I'd definitely say hold off any Ebay auctions, when you can go to the Mothership instead! :) |

Kelly_Birkin, you are so nice with the encouragement!
In the meantime, I have this forum to drool over and this thread to keep me strong

I want to join this group. I have to save because, while we can "afford" it, we can't "afford" it b/c DH thinks this it's utterly ridiculous to spend that much on a purse. Also with the threat of an economic turndown looming, I too don't think it's that wise to spend so much money on a purse. So I have to save and buy on consignment or eBay. The thing that scares me the most is getting scammed. I also have no idea how much the things I want cost. I have set a goal for myself of having a Kelly by the year 2011. I know that sounds ridiculous, but I think I will have a good stash put away by then. Then my goal is to buy a consigned Hermes bag every other year after that. Let's see if I can do it!

Well I was thinking about buying a Birkin this year with the money I was going to make on my investments....you can imagine how that isn't going to be happening with the economy the way it is. Then again if I saw the perfect bag on the shelf it would be hard to say no. Sigh. I really shouldn't. And how do you decide when you can afford the bag?

This thread is terrific for those of us who are waiting/saving and are trying not to spend our money elsewhere. I'm struggling at the moment as I have my eye on a few things but hopefully it will be all worth it.

P-B, there's a ref thread on the board about reputable
ebay sellers - and another thread about the current prices of items. I hope that helps. :) |

Gosh, I know what you all mean. I am lucky that the closest Hermes right now is an hour and a half away because I *could* just go and take a Lindy home with me...but...I...shouldn't...right? LOL
![]() I'm trying to read up on money/investing to offset any "bright ideas" I get from our beloved H forum.

Hell yeah Tulip!! You and I can do it --- we'll eventually get there, right? And there's nothing wrong with second hand as I checked out some of the reputable buyers on Ebay for my grail, and I think I can definitely swing those better than a brand spanking new one. Besides, second hand ones have a little more love to them, especially the Box! (Call me Ally McBeal with a Birkin!!)
