I have to apologize to my RAOK elf for a late reveal. I was out of town for a week and when the package arrived, DH opened it, put it aside where I wouldn't see it, and forgot to tell me about it. So I didn't know it had arrived until several days after I got back.Anyway, there's a whole huge background to this gift...DH's grandmother was part Swedish and grew up in Minnesota. She gave her granddaughters, including my sister-in-law, American Girl Kirsten dolls, because Kirsten is a Swedish immigrant to Minnesota so it ties in to their family history. SIL passed Kirsten on to DD (whose middle name, by the way, is DH's grandmother's first name--she was born when DH's grandmother was in the last few months of her life and we wanted to honor her). This is Kirsten. She needs a bit of a spa--I think I'll send her to doll hospital but I have to sneak her away from DD. kirsten2.jpg Kirsten's being discontinued this year, which means her accessories won't be available, and there were a few things I wanted DD to have for her even though she's not quite old enough to appreciate them (she's 2). My elf sent DD a package of goodies for her and Kirsten: kirsten1.jpg The box included a book of Kirsten stories, Kirsten's baking outfit, and her quilt, along with a little sampler quilt when DD can work on when she is old enough to be around needles. My fondest memories of DH's grandmother are of baking Scandinavian goodies with her around the holidays, and I think the baking outfit is really cute! Here's Kirsten with her new things, and somewhat more disciplined hair:kirsten3.jpg DD was making me take Kirsten's shoes off and put on her clogs, and take them off, and put them on...all day! She is more of a girly girl than I ever was, and I know she will love all these special things for years to come (not to mention her mom is kind of obsessed with American Girl stuff now too ). Thank you to my RAOK buddy for sending DD such special goodies for her doll! We both really love everything.

Capulet- That's adorable! My daughters are begging me for that exact doll because of the retiring. I keep saying no because we have so many American Girl dolls that it is like walking into Stepford Wives each time I enter the playroom with them all sitting neatly arranged on the sofa..... staring at me.

Lovely gifts Bmom. Loved the wrapping too. I really enjoyed the Deluxe book.
What sweet gifts for you, Capulet. My DD got a My Twinn instead of an American Girl doll a couple of years ago and it literarily was like seeing her twin when I opened her toy closet! |
