I know the new ones don't obviously, but I believe that ones made as recently as 3-5 years ago DID say it.

Oh and one other thing: Icechick you are going to have to break in that watch sooner or later!! LOL!! Do you really think he's going to know it's Hermes? Couldn't you just say something like "Oh this silly thing? I've had it for a while" if he notices it?
i wld be glad to share...

the watch is stamped W with a round circle (seller said it was at least 5 yrs old & more)

it was also in GOLD hardware.

I have a suspicion that the watches in GOLD hardware came with the WATER RESISTANT etched at the back whereas the SILVER hardware didnt.

OR it might be just the age of the watch & the etching details changed.

disclaimer - i am not saying that ALL medor watches with WATER RESISTANT are auth, it is still risky when you attempt ebay - but at least for those that are concerned when buying on ebay, we now know that we can get the watch authenticated by asking for the watch to be serviced at HERMES/ & it also doesnt mean that when we see older watches with the WATER RESISTANT, it means it is for sure a fake.

Hope this helps!

OH that is interesting, that it's Gold and "vintage". W in a circle would make it from 1993--although it's important to note that the letter stamp on the STRAP doesn't always correlate with the age of the actual WATCH!

I have a watch that's 5 years old, for instance, and it has an F stamped strap (2002) as well as an H stamped one (2004), and a K stamped one (2007). I interchange them and if I were to ever sell the watch, depending on what strap I sold it with, the buyer could rightly be confused about the age of the actual watch itself.

Also, when you buy replacement straps at Hermes, very often the letter stamp will be several years out of date!

oh wow - yes, you got a point there!

so does it mean my watch might be even older or younger than it appears????

well, on the back of the watch - it is etched with number 605731 - not sure if that tells anything...

& on my servicing receipt, it didnt say much abt the watch in description too...

I dunno? I seem to recall that the serial number denotes the date, but I can't remember the formula they use, or even whether a "lay person" could tell the date by looking at it (like you can do with LV bags, for instance). I am sure that someone in the watch department could probably help you date the watch if you asked them during a slow period at the store, though.

Congrats on your Medor. I am still waiting for a call from my boutique when some Medors come in. Last time I checked, they only had straps. Are you gonna get any fun new straps for your watch?

I know I know and I'm dying too. I think it's more the guilt of having had it hidden now than the watch itself. However since hubby proudly walked out of Hermes with his frist, very own orange bag today I think I can safely take it out when I get back home, lol.

Congrats on your new watch, I really love mine even though it only comes out to play in the dark, lol!

thanks guys! I am simply in love with my MEDOR watch - i like its unique design & it is quite a conversational piece when i wear it out.

I'll definitely check with hermes store again to find out more abt the age (am interested to know how old is this watch). Will update again when i find out more abt the serial number.

ooh, i have been thinking abt getting another watch strap actually lol... saw a beautiful MEDOR in this blue lizard strap combo on ebay recently - simply gorgeous! wld love to acquire one in fuchsia lizard strap if possible.

Ooh awesome, what did he get??? I have a feeling he's going to like your watch. It's SO YOU! When she brought out that case that day, my eye went right to the one you bought and I thought to myself, "that one!".

i've been scoping out ebay for medor watches and haven't had any luck. does anyone know if the silver or the gold scratches more easily? my previous boss had one with silver hardware that was VERY banged up.

Workin' on my tan!
There is a Orange (Signature Orange PH) Medor at Mario's.
I don't know if they will ship.
The strap says Y in a circle.
PM me if you need additional info.

i have a supposedly vintage medor watch that says water resistant on the back, has a y in the circle, and opens from bottom to top. i'm wondering if anyone knows about the bands you tuck the strap into... are there supposed to be 2? or just 1? there is one that is permanent and close to the buckle. is there supposed to be another one that can move? thanks!

Hi bbbochap,

Did you happen to purchase your Medor from ebay seller "gem_mail"? I'm looking at a Medor he has listed now and he didn't answer my question about whether he had the Hermes servicing receipt, even though he said he got the new battery put in there.

Thanks!!!

hey. details TK. the hermes i asked about is REAL, not a fake, and i just checked it at the madison avenue store in manhattan.
it says WATER RESISTANT on the back and has a 5 # serial code in back. please note that it was checked by a salesperson, a manager and the repair guy in the back. so, any posts stating otherwise are incorrect. also noted: it has a Y i a circle indicating it was made in 1995. it has a certificate of authenticity saying it was sold in ''96. it is in a holinger box which is the old packaging that the manager verified is real.

i want to clear a couple things up on this post. i bought a green medor from a stylist friend a week ago and had it checked out at the hermes store on 62nd and madison before my purchase because the information about fakes is misleading here. this is what i found out:
• the water resistant imprint IS on the back of my watch
• the serial number is only 5 digits (this varies per edition)
• the e and the m engraved on the side of the watch face have a slightly odd wide space between them
• it came in a hologer box - grey. this is the olf box they used to be packaged in
• it opens from the top - it's dated circa 96 / authenticated sales card and the older watches open this way
if you have nay questions about yours feel free to contact me and i can send you photos or tell you what else i learned
