I don't know about maintenance, but I do know that installation is rather difficult--requires different materials/glues/cutting blades and skills than ceramic or stone. Be sure your installer has expertise with glass tile!

OK if you want really good guac. use La Victoria brand medium salsa with avacados and mayonaise. Do not use other brand or strength salsa.
Take a couple of small to med. size avacados and mash well. Add some mayo ( 2 tablespoons +- same with the salsa) Pepper, taste. add more mayo. salsa, pepper if needed. Trust me. Do not do more than 2 avacados at a time then lump together put pit in bowl to keep color. |

CC, yes! Lots of CDC bags in general popping up here, just not in MY store *grumble grumble*. Love glass tiles, have two friends who had it installed, and the difference in the expertise of the installers was obvious(these were the little glass tiles so much harder to lay perfectly straight).
EH, I want those tacos now! They sound so yummy! |

I am getting hungry now too!!!!
The Guac. recipe is easy and really good. Every place has La Victoria salsa. My new mexican market has fresh salsa hand packed, guac hand packed, everything hand packed................and so cheap. Even great cakes. I was the only gringa in the place. I must brush up on my espanol for the numbers. They use numbers and I had one in the 60s and a wee bit lost in the meat dept. |

I've got 3 avacados here that need to be used. Maybe I'll make SO some guacamole.

Say, Chicas, I have a question. Y'all read my rant yesterday about the childish behavior of my roofer. This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened, because obviously anytime I contact my contractor with a concern or complaint, he goes to the subcontractor in question, and I think he tends to overplay my (the customer's) level of distress. While I've never before had a sub actually tell me he was cross that I'd gotten him in trouble, I've had hints of this a couple of times previously. I feel like my contractor should know (1) how the roofer reacted, and (2) that when he emphasizes the customer's unhappiness, it can cause ill feelings between the subs and the customer. HOWEVER, of course if I say anything about #1 to my contractor (AFTER this project is completed, of course!) the very real risk is that the exact same scenario will be re-enacted in stereo (the sub will be angry that I tattled to the contractor that the sub was angry when I tattled to the contractor)! So, my question: Should I mention #s 1 and 2, or just 2, or exercise discretion and mention neither? Whaddaya think?

AFTER the project is complete, sit with the contractor and tell him this. Then next time, express yourself to the new contractor before the job begins citing examples and what you DON'T expect to happen. It's his job and you shouldn't have to tell him how to do it, but why should YOU be made uncomfortable with crap like that when you are already going through a stressful project? He's getting paid to handle all that and it's being put on you.

You bring up a good point--I don't want to give the contractor the impression that I'm telling him what to do, and the dopey behavior of subs really isn't his fault . . . . but I think he needs to be aware that some subs will hold it against the CUSTOMER if the contractor isn't careful how he phrases his remarks. Probably next project will be with the same contractor (we've worked with him for a long time) so I want to be sure we stay on positive terms, but I also need to feel free to talk to him when issues arise, and at the moment I feel a little wary because of how he's apparently framing issues when he talks to his subs. I think I need to emphasize that side of it, because I know he is very concerned with good customer relations (he's a prominent BBB member and takes those issues very seriously) and I think he'd respond to the idea that a customer might hesitate to talk with him due to fear of a sub's retribution!

Note that I am not really sure the sub should have gotten in trouble. It was the contractor's responsibility to notify you, not the sub's. That's his job and unless I misunderstood, the sub was in trouble because HE didn't let you know?

Mindi I have to get back to you on this one because DH is pushing me out the door but you are right, the subs can get you back. I am sure the contractor has had many calls from homeowners when the workers flake (because they all do at times and don't call because they don't want to hear it from the cust. or contractor) and I am sure he is frustrated but there is a finesse.
