There are so many fakes out there and all the help from all the people who are familiar with the brand "In and Out" is truly appreciated.

At age 64, I don't exactly think of myself as naive but I was totally unaware that people were PMing other tpf members and telling them that their bag/scarf was fake.

What I think needs to be made clear, is that it was NOT our authenticators who were PMing people and telling them their bags were fake. It was OTHER tpf members who apparently felt they had the knowledge to do this. And they should NOT have done so.

It sounds like we now have a great new rule and one can only hope that it will be respected by tpf members. I have the greatest respect for our authenticators and believe they always act with the greatest honesty and thoughtfulness. They are an ENORMOUS asset to this forum and I greatly appreciate all their efforts for all of us. I also want to thank our moderators - they have a thankless job and they are what makes tpf "go". Thank you all - authenticators and moderators!!!

Thanks for making it very clear, Jag. I've asked for opinions on several designer forums as well as the general authenticate forum and appreciate when people take time to assist me. I always realize I'm getting their best judgment, not a guarantee. It's been my experience that most stores won't touch a question regarding authenticity, so we're fortunate to have members here who contribute what they've learned.

Jag is the best! Thanks so much for handling this matter with the class that you do! It's great to have clarification on what is allowed and not allowed once again.

For all our authenticators out there, Thanks for your tireless efforts! There are some of us (namely me!) that wouldn't be able to really tell a real one from a fake one based on pictures alone. While my bank account screams in terror, my heart skips with each little Hermes sitting on my shelf!

I totally agree with Baggaholic. I have bought 2 bags direct from the store, 1 bag from a very trusted member and 1 from eBay. I still really cant see the subtleties between them, so I always love to see the members opinions who take their time to look and comment. None of them have ever said their word is gospel, they are sharing their accumalated knowledge with us. I trust them , but in the same breath, if I was to buy a bag and it wasnt authentic, I would never blame them. What you have to remember is that someone might be posting pics of an authentic bag, then sending you something else. I would truly hate to not hear the members opinions, and the authenticate thread is always one of my first stops, even if I am not buying anything!! And sadlythe fakes are getting more and more sophisticated.
I think everyone should be mindful and respectful when sending a PM. You are actually intruding on someones privacy in a way.
And as jag says, if you really have a problem with someone, you should approach the mods, who will look at it in a non-personal way and try to resolve the problem. PMs are not for venting your dislike or anger at another member.
Even now on this thread, I see a couple of posts questioning the knowledge and qualifications regarding the members who take their own time and knowledge to answer the questions. It makes me mad!! If you dont want to listen to their opinion, dont waste their time!!

There is no hierarchy on the Hermes Forum. Just people who love Hermes interacting with one another, enjoying the product.
Very well said
