I'm no authority on making peace, but I certainly want to vote on keeping the peace :}
I believe it's personally responsible to watch what you post, and whose feelings you may inadvertently step on. Lesson learned, please be prudent and not presumptuous. ASK QUESTIONS, rather than assuming judgment.
It is my opinion that any of us, when posting to the Authenticate This thread owe a debt of gratitude for the graciousness and time the collective folks invest to help out. Really. Like MrsS wrote, it can be a timesink, but it's a thankless job done for the love of these products. That said, these volunteers have every reason to take any flaming or angry email personally, because their reputation is widely based on collective successes. They should be given respect and understanding in exchange for this favor they do for you.
When something goes wrong, it's not the responsibility of the persons who proffered their help, but the buyer who (figuratively) relinquished control of their decision in the hands of volunteers. It is my opinion that prudent buyers should be absolutely diligent, not impulsive, and always remain in control of gathering and processing all information. Once a decision is made to buy, you are to blame, not the folks in tPF who tried to help you with your decision (whether by authenticating or suggesting help).
When I write "you", it is to no one in particular, but I'd hope everyone who has been in a buying position would consider these thoughts.
