sorry girls, I keep seeing a lot of references to Mr. Lau and having read so many threads, I still couldn't figure out who this Mr. Lau is?

Joseph Lau Luen Hung (Born 1951 in Hong Kong with family roots in Chaozhou, Guangdong) is a billionaire Hong Kong real estate investor who owns a 61% stake in Chinese Estates Holdings. His fortune is estimated by Forbes at $4.3 billion.

In May 2007, Lau was revealed to be among the first seven purchasers of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner jet for private use. And on 7 November 2007, he made the top purchase of the evening at a Sotheby's Auction by paying $39.2 million for Paul Gauguin's Te Poipoi, a painting of a Tahitian scene.

On 12 May 2009 he acquired a blue diamond at Sotheby's for US$9.48 million, naming it "Star of Josephine".

His 2 mistresses are Yvonne Lui Lai-Kwan (a former beauty pageant) and Chan Ho-Wan a.k.a. Gumby. (a former reporter turned into secretary to Mr. Lau. She's not officially declared as the mistress to Mr. Lau).

Mr. Lau's wife had died. He had a daughter with Yvonne. The baby belonging to Gumby though it's speculated as his daughter too, he had not deny or confirmed that it is his daughter yet. Mr Lau also had children with his late-wife.

Mr. Lau is famous here because it is said he likes to buy Hermes birkins for his 2 mistresses. Also, his mother, daughters and his late-wife all carry Hermes bags most of the time.

Some of the tpf'ers here I believed had met and know Mr. Lau personally.

I just want to add that
i) Mr. Lau has publicly acknowledged that he is the father of Gumby's daughter, and
ii) Some or even most of the Birkins that his two mistresses carried are loaner bags, as Mr. Lau considered Birkins "good investment."

FWIW, I've never seen a Diamonds by the Yard that is that thick in the chain. They are coming out with a new sterling silver version instead of the platinum (according to my SA last week), so maybe it's a new model?

*lol, back to lurking. love this thread! thank you all for the pictures! *
