Default Today in Paris I spied...

Forgive me as I don't know exact names of the bags, but I wanted to help out those searching for their grail bags! Today at Catherine B, a resale shop in paris I spied

A white and white or light beige toile (canvas right?) smaller (prob 30) birkin
a very large red leather birkin style bag with GH that seemed to be higher vertically than a standard birkin. Both were absolutely stunning.

A tan or gold leather birkin (I can't really tell the difference) and a tricolor kelly in brown with two other neutral colors. Also a smaller sized black croc kelly.

I know that there are more that I can't remember, they had a phenomenal Hermes collection! They had a ton of kellys and a good amount of birkins.

The tricolor kelley was smaller... maybe 28? To me it looked "classic kelley" size. Not a Heidi montag-esque kelly . I asked about the prices of the birkins and he told me that the white leather/beige toile birkin was $5000 euros. As a newbie to appreciating Hermes (I won't be able to get one for a long time!) it incredible to see such an amazing collection. They had a ton of scarves, bracelets, and some china too.

It's not an outlet. It's an auction house. Watch out for the premium added to the final price.

Thanks man. If you look at the description box, last sentence: " From a private collection purchased from a Hermes outlet in Australia." Isn't that odd? I would LOVE to go to that outlet!!!

By outlet perhaps in the ad they meant boutique... I have mixed feelings about this auction. The clear plus--the current prices. But the caveats--there is a buyer's premium of 15%. The auction house controls the shipping--they can package it and charge an unknown amount for the service. Shipping from Australia and New Zealand to the US can be hugely expensive. If using services such as FedEx, you can be charged a brokerage fee at the receiving end in addition to the shipping costs. There is also the possibility of duty. When you add all of this together, I have some concerns. I think any interested potential buyers should email the auction house and ask specific questions about shipping.

There is also the fact that when I last checked, the auction house has 0 feedback. This may not be important--they could have a long and established local history--but eBay feedback is important when it comes to auction houses. They tend to have slightly lower ratings than the best personal sellers--in large part because of shipping policies. Here, there is no eBay feedback history to help you assess how people feel about the added costs and the flexibility and post-auction service.

Good luck to those who participate--I just think some caution is wise and some homework (including reading all the fine print) is essential.

ITA!!! And also, check this out: "Payment can be made by cash (in house only), cheque, direct bank credit or Eftpos (In House) or by direct bank credit or Visa or Mastercard (Overseas buyers) If payment is made by credit card " Visa or Mastercard " an extra 2.5% charge will be added to payment." That means an additional 2.5% (you kind of HAVE TO pay via credit card if you are bidding on eBay)... So 17.5% total, not including the shipping...
