I also note that the person who actually started all of this, Grand Fonds, has not said a peep. And of course no one here has commented on the fact that she lied in her post regarding her horror story with me. here is the deal with her story: -she bought and paid for the item (a charm/lock...BNIB for which she paid $200.) on saturday september 23. (and FYI, shipping was free, as stated in the listing....although in order to bolster her story here and make it oh so much more awful, she stated that she paid for "expedited" shipping. she paid zero for shipping.) - i shipped the item on monday september 25, certified mail. - on october 9 she wrote asking about its whereabouts. i sent her the certified mail number. -on october 19 i put through a trace at my local postal office. and kept in constant contact with her by email...answering her emails daily and promptly. -twice during this time i offered to fax her the receipt from my postal office so she could also trace on her end. she never replied to those emails, i assume she does not have a fax machine, which is understandable. -on november 27 she wrote me stating that "apparently the lock arrived two weeks ago and my mom had picked it up" -then she did a credit card charge-back...stating to her bank/paypal that she had not received the item! -i faxed the copy of the certified mail receipt to Paypal, along with the on-line tracking showing the package picked-up in australia at her postal office, together with her email saying that her mom got the package two weeks ago !!! - she then lost the charge-back claim and the funds were returned to me. this is when she posted the crap about me here, on P.F. |

This is my opinion & no one has the agree with it
These matters are best handled PRIVATELY not on public forums. If you need friends' ideas or just moral support about how to handle the issue then ask for it here, without mentioning the SELLER's IDENTITY. Why ? Because there are 2 sides to every story and a buyer's complaint is only 1 side, and once you mention the SELLER's IDENTITY, he/she needs to know about the complaint and it is only fair that he/she respond in this public forum. |

I posted back when this all began that I was not going to buy the authors book.
I have changed my mind and pre ordered it. I know that I am going against popular opinion here and risk angering other members. I feel that there are always two (or more) sides to every story. I am sure that everyone who has ever bought or sold on Ebay has had one or more less than pleasant transactions. I certainly have. I don't think this makes one person or the other (buyer or seller) completely unscrupulous, dishonest, blameless, wronged, etc. Every person sees their own side. It is easy to get caught up in mob mentality,I did when I immediately made up my mind about this seller. I wanted to show solidarity with a fellow member, and take a stance without question. In hindsight, and in a different situation;that is a foolish, and even dangerous reaction. In any marketplace there will always be good and bad transactions. That is just life. And that, is just my two cents. |

There are just so many things wrong with this particular thread:
1. Only two members of tPF had a bad experience with Mr. *******, but he has had excellent transactions with hundreds of other buyers. His side of the story sounds acceptable (score one for Team *******). 2. Mr. ******* felt compelled to share his side of the story, but took on a vindictive, sarcastic and threatening persona (exposing true identities/email addresses, bringing in attorneys, belittling the intelligence of tPFers, etc.) in doing so (score one for Team tPF). Mr. *******, your book is coming out in a few months. I am sure it will be well-received. You feel our community here at tPF is sub-standard. We at tPF stick together when we are being attacked with threats of privacy exposure. Please take the high road, and leave us alone. Good luck to you, sir, in your future memoirs. |

Well said, kelly32. That's what I was trying to point out to Mr. ******* many posts ago, but he chose to belittle that, too. Again, his choice. At the end of the day, I think there was an opportunity here, for him and for former and potential buyers of his, to have a discussion about what had transpired without it devolving into pettiness. Which, unfortunately, it did.

I've been trying to stay out of this entire mess but now feel compelled to say something. Yes, there are two sides to every story. My problem is the way Mr. ******* chose to respond. Threats are completely unacceptable. I don't have a problem with his negative opinion about tPF community (even if I disagree...). The way he has conducted himself is the problem.

No offese MT but I don't understand why a seller on ebay has to lie about his location? When you start lying about something small such as that, how am I able to trust you? My Ebay transactions are about trust. There is no product on earth that I need more than I need trust. I have a 100% rating over 80 purchases & I've had no problems. I've been lucky, not one of these products did I need more than the peace of mind I was dealing with an honest seller. I've not been taken once. Trust my gut over the greed to acquire something.
Not everyone is going to click with everyone they meet. There are 2 sides to every story. Some people go through life thinking the rules are different for them, OJ Simpson is an extreme example of this. The rules are the same for all of us, no matter what your parents taught you. I wish MT luck on his book sales. I will not buy one, I'm much more interested in art, travel, & furniture. |

I am putting an end to this thread.
Frankly, I have no idea about his ebay business is about, nor do I care. What I care about deeply is to protect our members from this character who repeatedly breaks our forum rules, exposes private information about our members and plans on violating our copyrights. A brief word of advice to Mr. *******. Should you print/reproduce our thread contents without written permission, we will send our legal representation on the case quicker than you can re-register here with another annoying nickname. |
