I had absolutely no itentions of getting involved but feel compelled to say:

What exactly is the seller accused of ... he has had transactions with a few members that have been sour but he has sold loads and loads on Ebay apparently to satisfied buyers.

I think he has absolutely every right to defend himself here.

I know we like to be protective of our commuity but I think we really need to maintain our objectivity.

Of course any seller has a right to come here and comment on a transaction. Many have. We have had several buyer/seller issues get resolved right on this forum. Sellers have come here and explained their side, misunderstandings cleared up, etc. No problem.

When the buyers with complaints shared their experiences about this seller, he was not a member of the forum, they were free to say whatever they wished. He came here ostensibly to defend himself, but in doing so violated the rules of the PF.

In this case, he came in with a chip on his shoulder, was very disagreeable in his manner, and baited members with talk of lawyers. He got himself banned, then banned again, again, and yet again, for breaking TPF rules.

The buyers said he was rude and a bully. You can read his posts here and decide for yourselves if this is true.

If others have had great transactions with him, more power to them. Only one PF member has come forward to say their transaction was positive. His response to the two PF member buyers that complained about him was consistent with what they said was a big problem, his communication style.

He may be well liked by other customers, and forums, but he is banned from here, by the owners of this forum..... once you are banned, you cannot keep coming back to put in your .02.

Those are the rules of this playyard.

While I have no intention to support him by buying a copy of his book, i can't wait to hit the bookstores come April. Just to check out what noteworthy quotes he may have for the uninformed, about bringing home a birkin.

It'd probably be very "enlightening".

of course he does, mawsey - and if that's what he had done he wouldn't have been banned. but he wasn't simply defending himself -- he showed up in a hissy fit and started posting threats against members . after making his presence known his first post was to threaten anyone who had anything negative to say with publication (and presumably ridicule) of it :

(feel free to continue; my next book will be longer than this first one.)
then he decided that it wasn't quite threatening enough and upped the level:

what went on with the actual transactions we were discussing in the beginning of the thread is almost irrelevant at this point -- showing up here and making threats is unacceptable behavior. it's also not the wisest move for someone who makes an income selling things -- even without having a personal transaction that went bad i think a lot of members will decide not to do business with someone who cannot deal with conflict in a grown-up manner.

There was also a personal threat against H&H ("if you continue to post you are going to be the one in trouble") and veiled threats (mentions of legal representation and his client who is the attorney (guess he has no idea how many are actually on the board.) Not exactly lingo or behavior that makes me ever want to buy anything from the seller as it simply corroborates what's already been said by two individuals I've dealt or met with personally and choose to believe.

I haven't had any issues on this forum about backstabbing and the like, and choose to remain here because the mods and owners do such a good job of keeping such trolls out, and I've met some wonderful and kind individuals who help each other out. He had every right to defend himself, but the manner in which he chose to do it was simply offensive. There are good examples of other resellers who have chosen to respond graciously to negative comments and have remained on the board.

I must say that my impression of Mr T is that he may be anything but a cunning fellow or a con artist...or way too wise for his own good either. Otherwise he wouldn't get so defensive and raw in his response...He didn't manipulate with the public opinion here, too KWIM.
He might be just an adventurist with a "hurt boy's" soul...too direct and sensitive.

yes, indeed! life is funny and we're all human - so sometimes things go wrong. it's inevitable, really. what absolutely fascinates me is that he's chosen to approach this matter in exactly the way most likely to alienate as many people as possible! if i had been in his position i would have said something along the lines of being very sorry about DQ's unhappiness with the transaction, that there was obviously a misunderstanding that was not capable of being resolved - but that i would assure anyone thinking of a purchase from me that it would be a flawless transaction and they would be entirely happy.

now, i must admit i've been snarky toward him in this thread. but to put it in context - i posted in february of 2007 that he had misrepresented the scarf, and again the same day that i had an e-mail from him that i needed to read. not ONE word from me since on the subject. but yesterday, instead of posting some good PR, he decided to insult me!

he also says i asked him a question during the listing, which i didn't, but since i can't objectively demonstrate that i think it's more enlightening to focus on the fact that he says three years have passed - when clearly from my first post it hasn't even been one.

so i'm sorry to be beating this and dragging it on, but the sicilian in me can't let him insult me with impunity!

and for those of you who are admirably trying to remain objective, i would simply suggest that you wade through the muck of this unfortunate thread and you will see that he has been aggressive, rude and misleading.
