Default M&S does H? blurgh!

What the devil is this?! I was innocently cutting through M&S yesterday and stopped dead in my tracks. I know it's not quite "there" but it's certainly a bit of a nod to....check out those front straps and the turnkey.

What worries me as much is that someone out there in Manchester has probably bought one already!

Marks and Spencer, the quintessential British department store. Everyone depends on it for something be it criossants or socks. The bag is a nod but it really looks a mess. Plastic as well, yummy I don't think. No cause for Hermes to sue just yet methinks.

That looks awful, I can't believe they would want to sell something like that, regardless of it being a nod to H

Eew. That must be like our "old navy" here in the US. I hate it, but sometimes you just need a cheap white tee shirt!

They've done things like that as well.

I wouldn't say that, exactly. I would say it's more like a Bay (middle class quality?), but with food. =)

So it's kind of like Macys?

Any sort of copying perturbs the H out of me!

Heard Stuart Rose on Radio 4 this morning talking about the drop in profits and poor outlook for the retailer as a consequence of the downturn; well, no wonder if you sell stuff like this and we all know that H profits are on the up!

PS Flippant, I know as the fears are real but this is TPF!

There shouldn't be too many of these horrors about- they are part of the 'limited collection' according to the tag in the photo... although I spied someone with one earlier in Belfast...didn't realise what it was, just thought it was fugly!

...if i had £21 ($42), i would definitely not spend it on a faux leather (plastic croc) bag. i think i'd rather get a canvas/nylon bag. i love M&S (esp. for fruits), but IMO the actual bag itself is just tacky & not nice at all.
