Dear tnw~
When I was there last year in August, the SA I talked to told me that because the craftsmen are on vacation and she doesn't know what leather/color will be available (she won't know till Sept) , she cannot take an order for me. BUT, I remember another PFer lady who was ALSO there in August, and the SAME SA, told her she will put in an order for a raisin birkin come Sept. for her!! She went back in a few month to pick up her birkin ~ Lucky lady~~ So definitely don't give up!! Try different SA's if necessary, check both FSH and George V!! Will pray that you find your dream bag soon!! |

Thanks boo. I guess there is no rhyme or reason as to why someone gets to place a special order and someone does not. Does only FSH take SO's? Can George V as well? I do remember you coming home from Paris with your HAC, correct?
Once you place a special order, they will send it to you (in the U.S.) correct? I read that you have to wire the funds to them first. Can anyone let me know if this is right? Hermes and Laduree; here I come. |

I got the HAC from FSH, it was just sitting on the shelf. The SA at George V was super nice, she speaks English, French, even Japansese (I think her name was Charlotte), but I didn't ask her about placing orders. The SA who took the order for another PFer was at FSH.
I remember reading somewhere that they will ship the bag to you if you can't go to pick it up. Hermes and Laduree..... oh~~~ ![]()

I will be in FSH/Paris end of Sep. Does anyone know whether they still take special order then? I just bought a birkin and a HAC back in June. Considering that they might have the one birkin per year rule, will they still let me place an order? I hope the SA in FSH still remember me! Thanks in advance for any advice! |

hanyeu,
There's a few of us who are going to Paris around aug/sept and we can post about special order update then. If you are going to Paris end of september, it might be fashionweek and it could be a little bit more tricky getting special order. With birkin/Hac purchase, i think as long as you are not a reseller, it shouldn't be a problem. I think that rule is a way not to sell to resellers. |

thanks for the update on fashionweek... may be a good idea to avoid that then!
please keep us posted on your SO status! do you usually have the SO shipped back directly to your country? is there any security risk for high ticket item? custom or duty back to countries such as US (I know in Taiwan, they will charge you custom duty!) thanks! |

I think it depends which country you reside or want your item ship to.
Paris don't charge the 10% tax if it is shipped outside of EU but you have to pay for shipping charge and duty from your country. about security risk, I haven't read anything here that indicates that might be a problem. People seem to be quite satisfied with getting their SO shipped to their home. |

Would Birkins be scarce or hard to get the first week of August since the craftsmen take time off? I'll be heading there for a week ( aug 2-8) so I'm hoping to get lucky!
TIA |

if you are in paris now, it is better to ask. it is rare that birkins get displayed.
your chances are already higher since you are in Paris but it still depends on the sa and if they really have them in stock. Goodluck with your birkin. what kind of bags do you see in the shop? (you can add that in the Hermes inventory section). if you have time, would you mind taking pictures of the display windows at FSH and paste it at the Hermes Windows Around the World please? TIA! |
