Default If no budget issue, shall i buy a Birkin fr a Reseller or buy at H in Tokyo??
Hi all,

I am pretty new in this forum and hope someone can enlighten me. I will be heading to Hong Kong this month end and Tokyo at year end with a MOTIVE to buy an Ostrich birkin and one more Kelly. But, I really hope to hear from you ladies if I should buy from a Reseller in either HK or Tokyo or simply buy them off the H store in Tokyo (cos I read fr the forum that the Ginza H is well stocked).

If I am to buy from the Reseller, shall I buy in Hong Kong or Tokyo pls (in terms of pricings) ? Which country has more choices disregarding the prices?

Please help me!

Thanks,
Tan

Personally I would always buy from the store if they have exactly what you want. A reseller will always charge a premium for their bag, especially if it is a sort after skin or colour.

Good luck - I hope you find your bag

It's not about whether to buy from reseller or H stores; budget is not a problem here. It's about picking the best. With both the H stores/resellers, you have more choices to choose from.

Resellers-wise, Japan has been for many years, tops; the best market to look for rarity and discontinued leathers/colors.

I would advise you to start with the H stores first, then move onto the resellers if you cannot find what you want in the stores.

Nothing beats the feeling of having a bag brand-new from the store, IMO.

if money no object, buy it from the H in tokyo. At least you will get to experience real H service which you deserve.

IMO, I like the entire Hermes Store experience. That's where I'd start

try H Ginza first... I would be surprised that you cannot find something you like in there! you will be addicted to shopping in Japan, especially in Ginza H. In many ways, I think the Ginza store is a much nicer store than FSH (hope people will flame me for this comment!)

do you get 5% refund by buying from resellers in Japan?

Hmm, I always get the tax refund when I shop at Isetan at Tokyo so I supposed the same applies to H Ginza?

I love the service by the Jappies..They are lovely people..I am pretty sure the shopping will be great!

Hi ladies, pardon for asking but wonder why no one commented on the shopping in Hong Kong? I read from one of the threads that it may be possible to buy one fr the H at Peninsular Hotel if you are lucky. Then again, the chances are almost zero...
Does anyone bought any stuff fr the popular Milan Station? I know they are expensive but are their prices higher than that in Tokyo?

Oh ya...my hubby told me that during his business trip in Macau, he saw the H store there displaying birkins...said I could buy off the rack when I am there this month end...not sure if anyone saw it?

sorry but posing so many questions but just want to know more before i hit my 1st birkin..

I think buying from the H store in HK is hard. They keep most of their bags to their HK VIP. I was in the Peninsula H store in August. I kind of know the SA. I asked her if they have any Birkin 30. She told me that she has a Birkin 30 in BDP Togo. I have the same bag already but I asked my sister if she wants it (my sis was with me). The SA brought it out for my sis to try on. Then there were someone walking up the stairs (the woman bag dept is upstair). The SA said that someone is coming this way and she has to put the bag away. She was willing to let my sis to consider it overnight but not willing to let other customers see the Birkin that they have.

Some of my family members went to Toyko last April. They said that Ginza store had the Birkin in every colors that they asked for. The price back then was about 10% higher than US. Two people bought 3 and one bought one.

I guess you probably will be able to find what you want in Ginza. I think it will be much better than reseller if you can get it fromt the H store.

Tks pretty pony... Even where I am now, I do know a SA but I guess our relationship is strong yet to warrant a Birkin right away...(few mths back I jus bought fr her a Kelly 35 Togo Etoupe) So, needless to say, it is pointless to ask the SA in Hong Kong since I know nobody there...Well, everyone gave thumbs up for the H in Ginza so my mind is more determined than ever...

You should tell your SA in your local store that you want a Birkin. You will surprise that she might offer you one. With the current economy in US, it is much easier to get one now a day.
