Hi! Just a quick question – I recently purchased a bag from the US, and it is scheduled to arrive today. I received a called this morning from Fedex regarding my package. The person on the phone said I have a package (yes yes) and said they want my credit card details. At first my reaction was – ok, sure, give me a minute to pull my card out, and then, I thought was rather odd that the person didn’t tell me how much the charge was, who/where the parcel was from, the parcel number etc etc. Actually, I have to ask whether this call was regarding custom cost! All this person wants was my credit card details. I was a little suspicious (and paranoid that my CC details will be stolen again!) so I ask for some confirmation. The phone reception was poor as well. Apparently this person will send my confirmation to my email – which I have not yet received after 4 hours, and call me back later. Yikes! I also asked whether I can pay when my parcel is delivered, which this person promptly answered “No”.

Anyway, has anyone had experienced Fedex in Aust? Is this simply an example of poor service, or otherwise?

Thanks!
I always get all my purchase from overseas to be shipped via FedEx as they deal with the customs directly.... They normally call me to let me know of the duty and tax to be paid for and they are always in details though regarding what the parcel is and where it is coming from and the taxable amount......... Then I will give them my cc details to be charged.... Once the parcel gets delivered, they normally send you the the tax invoice for the charges that they put on my cc........... hope this will ease your mind up a liitle bit.......... But by all means, you have all the right to be in doubt as there are lots of scammers out there.........

Thanks mudmud, forever132, sydspy!

I do hope it was simply a case of a lazy attendent...anyway, I did finally received an email - but strangely the email was not from fedex directly, but an email forwarded from a Fedex address to a gmail address. It is just a bit weird...I'll give them a call tomorrow morning to see what is going on.

I do hope the bag arrives, after all the strangeness! lol will promise a mini-reveal here :)

Thanks again!

I believe that all FedEx shipping comes with tracking number..... With all my parcel, as soon as my cc has been charged over the phone for the duty and tax..... I always go into the tracking website for FedEx and the status of my parcel normally changes to "custom cleared"...... why don't you check that to ease up your mind a little......

did your parcel arrive safety? Hope everything goes well.

I just have a silly question, thinking should I bring my baby fushcia baby with me when travelling next month. To all of us already know that the custom is very trouble ESP with exotics item. I do not intend to claim the tax, but do I need to declare that I have an ostrich handbag in the arrival form, seem too much trouble. But if I do not declare it, will I get into trouble? Anyone can share their experiences with me?

I am not quite sure about the ostrich bag, however I have never told the quarantine officer anything about my crinoline victoria II travel bags.......... I do not think that they would recognise what a horse hair bag look like anyway, but the ostrich bag seems to be more recognisable ..... perharps the best people you should talk to is the Australian Customs and Quarantine..........

forever132, did you get a Cites certificate with your ostrich bag? I *think* I've read here that Ostrich are not part of the Cites requirement anymore, so customs should not have any trouble with it so you might not have a Cites certificate with it anyway. I brought in an ostrich BV bag into Australia without declaring it and there was no problem with it through customs (but that is they haven't even opened the luggage to check, just scanned it).

I have also brought a croc bag in and out of Australia with no issues (but again haven't been checked), and I have emailed Australian customs and Department of Environment, Heritage, Water and the Arts (which the customs have directed me to) and the reply was "If the bag is a personal effect you do not require any documentation to take it with you. You should however check what is required by the relevant authorities of other countries you may visit with the bag.". But I suggest you check with them again as rules might change.

Here's their details:
Telephone: 02 6274 1900
Email: deh.permits@deh.gov.au

Here's the pic of my Rouge Garance 35 in Clemence from Japan. Unfortunately, i did not find my blue :(

I took pictures to compare against my 07 Red Caviar Jumbo and my Kitchenaid Empire Red Blender for reference.

I absolutely love this colour!

RE: My parcel

Thanks everyone for the advises regarding custom and Fedex! Unfortunately it was not initially the most pleasant experience with fedex, but at the end, they were really accomodating with respect to the time of delivery. So, YAY, my parcel finally arrived in good time.

the_kelly_1day - congrats on the lovely kelly! Is she your first? I guess you should change your username now hehe

Sorry to hear about fedex. I've never had problems with them, but i have had heaps of issues with UPS (lost items, items with wrong labels attached so i got someone else's parcel but had my name on it while someone had mine, and the doozie - i got a call from UPS wanting $1000 in customs fees and i was not expecting any parcels - turns out that UPS had incorrectly put my details on someone else's parcel, and it was not even my shipping address, with no apologies for the mistakes, EVER!)

Mudmud - DROOL over the croc violet... Is it at the Sydney store??
