I like the sock idea, thanks! I have had the bag airing out all day near an open window and a box of soda next to it. (breeze has been blowing past the box and towards the purse) I think I will try the baking soda/sock idea next for the insides.

.

Another vote for baking soda. I don't know if you saw my "Old Lady" thread, but I got a Trim that is 26 years old and apparently in storage for a long time. The lady that owned it was in her 80's, and like most lovely older women, apparently had a penchant for, uh, "interesting" perfumes. Not sure it was perfume, but it was in the leather, the sleeper and being a Trim from the 80's, had fabric lining that also had the odor. I let the sleeper air out, but finally soaked in cold water with baking soda and let it dry outside.

The things that worked for me was literally dumping baking soda into the bag, remember, it's lined in fabric. I let that sit a few days then dumped/vacuumed it out. I also conditioned the leather with Leather CPR which has a nice scent (and safe on colored box calf). Finally, "Miss Muriel" spent countless hours outside partly in the sun partly in the shade.

She's good as new now.

In my case though, I didn't mind all this work because I didn't pay "much" for the Trim. I'd definitely be beyond annoyed if I'd spent over 3K.

I'm psycho in more than one way: I'd rather eat some of the shipping costs that ship items underwrapped, underprotected. Ask anyone that's bought from me.
Hrm, there was a free shipping promo huh? Ok, I am feeling a bit better about the neg I left her then. I was feeling very bad about it; I finally left it after she did not respond to my email after 4 days. I think I was fair enough in what I stated: "Item packaged poorly, purse has terrible smell. Seller did not reply to emails."

But lets talk about good shippers for a second. I bought a bag from ladyauthentic on 6/24. That girl had the bag on my doorstep on the 27th, from Switzerland!! It was packaged up tight too - there was a layer of your normal brown paper wrap and under that she had wrapped the box in a couple of layers of plastic - looked like maybe a trash bag, but hey...what ever works. Smart gal, what if the box got really wet and soaked through.

I should do a reveal later. I ended up taking pictures step by step as I unwrapped it because I was worried since my purchase with that other seller was packaged badly.

Sorry you had a problem, my experience with her was very different.

I did buy the black kelly from her. I did get it shipped the same way but I think that was to save on postage from Japan. Bag arrived safe and sound. My kelly didn't smell at all, I was really pleased with it

Problem 1: She couldn't bother to put the Kelly in a box for shipment, it was wrapped in bubble wrap and shoved into a shipping bag. I am very, very lucky it did not get crushed. Attached is a photo showing the poor packaging.

Problem 2: The bag absolutely reeks - it is a nasty, musty smell and I am not sure how I am going to de-stink it.

Ok Ladies, help me get my mind around this one, and squelch the alarms in my head if I am off-base.,,,,

You might remember an orange vibrato plume form last month that was listed by Manomeh, with authentication by Myampie (and used her pix too). I asked her about the lister and she replied that he is a personal friend and yes, she auth’d the bag and stands behind the seller. Ok, so I watch it and it sells to Muffy412 for on June 19th (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250258833369&ssPa geName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=015).

Today, I notice Myampie has it listed. Very unusual bag, hard to miss. I check Muffy’s f/b thinking maybe she non-paid, etc. No fb for that transaction. I send question to Myampie asking what’s up. My question and her reply is below:

ME: Hi Myampie, Manomeh sold this to Muffy412 June 19th. Why is it being
relisted? I know you authenticated it for Manomeh, we spoke about it
last month, so I'm confused as to why it is back with you. Pls. advise. Thanks!!

HER: I placed a bid on it (using my buyer ID) because I think I can sell it and still make a profit.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know. Thank you for your interest.
Best Regards,
- myampie

If she authenticated it in the first place for Manomeh, why didn’t she just buy it off him and list it herself? Doesn’t her authenticating it and having that as part of the listing “disqualify” her as a bidder, much less the WINNING bidder? Just seems wrong to me.
Am I nuts? Really leaves a bad taste in my mouth for this auction, but I love this bag! Here is the current listing:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190233699332. What do you think?

Well, interesting. Muffy412 (3) has 5 feedback only and as a buyer. The last being July O4. She does not use this ID very often.
You need someone well versed in the e-bay rules to figure this one out, but could Mayampie and Manomeh be the same seller?

"Here's what happened......"

Hmmmm....how bout this...........

Muffy and Myampie are the same. Not Manomeh and Myampie. My Monkish theory is that Manomeh asked Myampie to authenticate, and Myampie did it, and then Myampie let the auction take its course, and bid on the bag as Muffy. And won.

All the while Manomeh was thinking she could do as well as Myampie could, but of course, how could she......??????

Meanwhile, Myampie bids on the bag, thinking she can get if for less as a bidder than if she outright buys it from Manomeh...Why, you ask???

Well, poor Manomeh was overly optimistic when she made the listing, and offered to sell it to Myampie for MORE than Myampie thought it would end up for on eBay, see....

SO, as Myampie, Muffy would have a better chance at making money than Manomeh, who was not Myampie, but only imitating her style....

Myampie would have a separate buyer id, Muffy, but why would she bother having another seller ID, when she does so very well as Myampie.

I bet that Manomeh thought that if she used her friends style, she would do as well, but she did not count on the fact that Myampie has the reputation and feedback, and Manomeh doesnt.

That worked for Myampie, and Myampie as Muffy the buyer, to an advantage. If not for the PF, no one would have suspected that Muffy and Myampie were the same person.

I think its that Muffy is Myampies buyer ID....I bet Myampie waited to see how the bag would move, and bid on it....as muffy. Rather than buy it outright, as Myampie. From Manomeh....

She couldnt bid on it as Myampie, because that really WOULD look suspicious, since she, Myampie, was mentioned in the auction.

Manomeh doesnt really mind, because of course she has additional feedback, and of course her friend Myampies continued coaching, etc. Myampie, and Myampie as Muffy, says, "better luck next time my friend," and they go out for martinis.

Thats just my theory. he he he.....

CB, that is fabulous!!! I guess my glasses aren't that rosey, b/c I think I'd be P.O'd if my "friend" bought my bag and then resold for more than I got (unless I was getting a cut - which we don't know). As a jewelry designer, it's the same reason I don't wholesale. I can't stand the thought of someone else selling my product for more than I got for it (we're talking small potato/one of a kind stuff, not mass produced, which would be way different).

Anyway, I loved your explanation and it makes perfect sense, but doesn't make me love the situation any more than before. If it was a black Kelly or Birkin or other bag that there are "lots" of, that would be one thing, but this is a very distinct bag, one that sticks out in one's memory... Also - LOVE TS! Ever see Big Night? Mamma Mia!!!

Thanks everyone!! It is wonderful to have a group of friends to bounce things off of here. My friends and family just think I'm nuts!
