Default Portero Auctions

Hi,

I am looking for some advice on purchasing my first birkin!! Unable to get on any waiting list, I am looking to purchase elsewhere.

I am very nervous about using eBay as if I am honest I don't think I could spot a fake Hermes Birkin if I tried (I am reading all the useful info here to improve my knowledge).

I notice that Portero have been mentioned in The Times, so that gives me abit more confidence and they claim never to have sold a fake Birkin but does anyone have any experience of purchasing from them, good or bad views appreciated

Welcome to the group! I have not purchased from Portero but know others who have purchased authentic H scarves from them. There are threads in this Shopping section that give lists of reliable re-sellers. There is also a section where you can post the number of an eBay auction and ask experts to authenticate a bag for you. I have been avidly collecting H scarves for many years and am now hoping to move to handbags. I bought my first (not Birkin or Kelly) from an eBay and online seller. Frankly, I would never purchase a bag without having the experts here authenticate it - I know I will never have knowledge that even comes close to theirs! Good luck!

I had a very pleasant transaction with SandiaExchange. My Raisin Box Birkin was just as described in the auction. Communication response time was fast and she shipped the next day. Very pleased!!

I purchased a 32cm rigid Kelly from sluxury and just got it on Friday. While the bag is absolutely beautiful and as described I doubt I will ever buy from her again.

Problem 1: She couldn't bother to put the Kelly in a box for shipment, it was wrapped in bubble wrap and shoved into a shipping bag. I am very, very lucky it did not get crushed. Attached is a photo showing the poor packaging.

Problem 2: The bag absolutely reeks - it is a nasty, musty smell and I am not sure how I am going to de-stink it.

That is totally unacceptable I am so sorry that you experienced this. Have you contacted the seller?

No, not yet as I am just not sure what to say. I was upset about the packaging...but it arrived safely. As far as the smell, I don't want to send the bag back over it, I want to figure out how to de-stink it.

As I said in my post the bag is just beautiful, in fact her pictures just did not do it justice it is so lovely. Although it does not need a spa treatment (for condition) I may take it to H anyway to see if they can do anything about the smell.

This is the bag in question:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=370061086045

I have yet to leave her feedback on eBay. I will leave a positive rating overall but am debating how I want to put in the star ratings.

Oh, I should mention her shipping was EXTREMELY fast even though her packaging was poor.

I just wanted to mention I had a good transaction with akiko1120 on eBay for a vintage vespa.
See my reveal: Many H firsts for me in one item - REVEAL!
Her photos were very accurate. Shipping was fast and packing was good.

I think there have been some threads asking about how to 'de stink' bags, and some members have come up with helpful suggestions. Maybe Post the question as a thread in the regular forum for suggestions since search is down?

Put a little container of bicarbonate of soda inside the bag and providing the smell isn't too obtrusive just leave it in the room to air

I can't believe someone would ship your bag in a mailing bag??? Why wasn't it in a box?

Thanks for the suggestion, I am going to try this tonight.

No idea why they put it in a mailer and not a box. It certainly surprised me when the package arrived though. I am just really lucky it did not get crushed.

That was just stupid that it was put in a mailer. Stupid, lazy and cheap. Did I miss a word?
