Default Calling Hermes Birkin Owners from M'sia, S'pore, Aus, Viet

Hi, I am ready for my 1st Birkin. I am currently located in Melbourne,Australia. I travel back to M'sia, S'pore, Viet 1-2 times yearly (I am not sure if there is Hermes store in Viet since my last visit with my partner). My questions are
1. where should I get my Hermes Birkin?? Do you ladies and gentlemen find it is hard/easy to get you Birkin in particular local store?
2. Price - Which local store has the reasonalble price. How much you got for your Birkin (i want a 35 BJ/orange Birkin)
3. Availability - Do you have to wait or you are lucky enought to have one on the spot
4. Waiting list - how long do you wait and does the local store contact you?
5. Recommended store - which local store would you recommended

Save yourself some heartache and go to Paris or Japan. In Singapore/Malaysia, Birkins (especially the 30/35 cm) are offered to regulars only. You will save more or less the amount equivalent to your airfare (assuming economy flight) by buying from Paris. Japan would cost approx. 20% more than Singapore/Malaysia.

1.I would suggest you to try to get it from Melbourne store or any store at australia and it seems easiler to get onto the waitlist. I also tried to waitlist at malaysia and I only received 1 call on last 5 yr and it wasnt the color that i want.

2. Price 35 birkin in togo is around 12045 AUD but u can go overseas and get tax refund.

3. I managed to get 3 birkin without any waitlist but i mean it is mainly depends on your relationship with the store and the sales. It is very easy to spot a birkin on the shelf in sydney store anyway.. ( even it might not be the size or color you want but at least they are getting the stock)

4. i wait 9 month for 1 of my order and 1 yr and 9 month for my special order

5. I think melbourne store and gold coast store are great!

That's not a bad idea to buy from Paris if I can save more than AUD2000-3000 (excluding air ticket). But how do i know that i will get the color, size and leather that i want? is it just walk in and depend on my luck??

ChoeSS, thanks for your information. are you saying that if I buy from here in Australia (say buy in December) then I can get tax refund when I go back to M'sia/S'pore (say back in January)? Please guide

Also, if i want to get a particular Birkin from another store in Australia -- Do i just make a phone call or i have to visit the store (say go to Gold Coast)?

You don't; depends on your luck, and also the SA. I have heard some SAs are willing to take down an order and send it to you when it comes in, while other SAs are not. But at least, there is greater choice there (except in summer) if you stay a few days, and the possibility of being able to order one.

yea.. as long as u purchase over $300 within 30 days before u leave australia, you can take the item with you and get tax refund and it is aorund 1k tax...

for shopping at another shop. u can give them a call. some might not willing to send to another store if this is the first time you deal with them or they might charge u a fee.

i totally second what Roxanne is saying. I heard that there's a 2-year waiting list in Singapore; I didn't even bother trying. Got my birkin in Provence.

I would go to Paris or Japan. The chances of getting a birkin is higher. My friend had seen BJ and Orange on the shelves (Japan) before.

Or you can try a reseller in Singapore. There are some which occasionally carry a birkin or two. But be prepared to pay marked up prices.

yes, as Tammy says you can try a reseller. You can try a shop on the Far East Shopping Centre (next to Wheelock Place), unit 04-01 - the name of the shop escapes me now.

There's also another reseller on the 1st storey of Tanglin Shopping Centre – Cavalli, I think it's called.
