eBay fined for counterfeiting; ordered to pay damages to Hermes - lawyer

REIMS, France (Thomson Financial) - Online auction giant eBay Inc. was convicted Wednesday of selling counterfeit goods and ordered to pay 20,000 euros in damages to French luxury group Hermes, Hermes' lawyer said.

The ruling, which marks a first in France, found eBay directly responsible for the sale on its website of three Hermes bags, including two fakes, for a total of 3,000 euros.

It's a very nice bag for a great price! Evergrain would be my guess too. Certainly not barenia.

^^^ eBay vs. Hermes

Is this Bolide authentic, ladies? I've a friend who would like a nice, entry level basic Bolide. TIA (also, it's a 37, right?)

I could be wrong about who asked what, and truthfully there are a several opinions on this....it is definitely something we wonder about and we have heard varying policies on it...it could differ by store or region, even.

If you are interested in a shooting star bag, i would say that it would be wise to either ask your own store what their policy is, phone NY or BH and speak to Claude or Manuela, or, just know that it is a grey area and take extra care of the bag, just in case.

And count on the question arising again if you were to want to resell the bag.

I have been in contact with the Seller, and this beautiful bag has indeed been refurbished by Hermés, corners and re-stitching. So, I guess Hermès will do it ?

Sounds like it. You can tell that the bag was well cared for. They did a nice job with the corners... Good luck!!!

hmmmmmm, 20000 euros is pennies to eBay! It would be great if a fine could make a difference in the number of fakes!
