As we have seen in our action threads, Hermes scarves can make any outfit extraordinary! But not everyone knows how to tie or wear those wonderful works of art! So here is the guide to show you exactly what to do!

Please use this thread to post a picture of how you like to wear your scarves, and please include instructions so others can be inspired to try it for themselves!

Scarf as belt...
This is a 90 cm carre, folded on the bias.

wrap so you can knot it in the front, and tie yourself a perfect little square knot (right over left then left over right...)

Then turn knot to the back, and go have fun!!

All this talk about scarves and how to wear them always sends me back to the books (the Carre or Playtime with Your Scarf) to find some new 'formule' for wearing mine. In conjunction with other great scarf threads, such as Rose's 'Which Scarf/Pointu/Pochette are you wearing today?' ( Which scarf/pointu/pochette are you wearing today?), with this thread as an interactive mini-instruction manual, I hope we can all explore the different ways to wear these beautiful works of art by posting the book illustration and finished result. When I was first getting the hang of wearing the carres, the Playtime book was never enough; it was always more useful to see as many other people's methods in practice as possible.

No need to go in any particular order, just jump right in with:

(1) the Playtime instructions, if possible and/or Formula #, and
(2) your pic

To get us going, here's one formula that I've been using for so long, it's become more of a personal habit.

Since the weather is getting warm already, I find that I can't "handle" a scarf on my skin, yet I want to be able to enjoy my scarves in warm weather. So, I like to wear them as shown in the picture.

I take one end of the scarf and put it DOWN through the scarf ring and then take the other end and put it UP through the scarf ring. It gives the scarf some "poufiness".
