Comments to previous post by Kallie (courtesy of Gina_b) with alternative tie:
Kallie, I love this look! Ever since I picked up a scarf ring, I've been wearing my carres this way more and more often. But I do remember that the first time I used it, I made the mistake of pulling the scarf ends through the ring in the same direction (so the ring rested horizontally). That day I stopped in at FSH, and while I was waiting to be shown a few bags, another SA from a different department spotted me from the next room and made a beeline over. In the nicest, most deferential way possible, she reached over and corrected my scarf ring position, telling me to make sure to pull the ends through in different directions (resulting in the ring resting vertically, as in your photo and in Formula 294 below). Otherwise, she said, the ring would most likely just slip off. ![]() NB: Actually, now that I'm looking at the illustration, which is from an older book, please note that it shows the wrong way to thread the scarf through the ring. Do remember to thread the ends through opposite sides of the ring when using this method, so as not to lose the ring! That scarf ring really adds a level of elegance to an already elegant scarf, don't you think? Love it!!

This is how I almost always wear a carre. I start in the front and take the ends round the back of my neck. I then bring the ends back forward and secure them with a scarf ring. |

Honestly I never really liked the plisse scarves because I never really knew what to fo with them, but I tried this this morning and I LOVE it! ![]() ![]() It looks more complicated than it is, but it's really another lazy scarf tying method in disguise! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Twilly/scarfring necklace. Also works really well with heavier rings! |

Courtesy of MaggieD (with her permission from the Scarf/pointu/pochette) thread:
1. Step 1: drape the scarf around your neck with tails hanging down 2. Step 2: Tie a simple "loop knot" (I think of it as a half-knot) near your neck (so far, so good, right?) 3. Step 3: Grab and pinch the "tails" about midway down on the edges facing each other in the center 4. Step 4: Beginning with the fabric that you "pinched" in Step 3, slide the scarf ring on and start pushing towards your neck. Keep holding the original pinched ends in one hand away from you as you push the scarf ring towards you. |

scarves as tops.....
I think any necklace will do....just experiment! It adds length to the scarf for long torsos. I also wear a strapless top under it but some are daring... ...and a jacket looks good under. basically...here are the steps. 1. put the necklace you want to use on.... 2. take opposite ends of the scarf 3. bring one end behind the necklace 4. bring the end behind the necklace together with the opposite end not behind the scarf 5. tie a double knot..and leave 1.5-2 inches above the knot to tuck in 6. tuck in the knot behind the necklace 7. take the ends not in a knot and tie behind back |

Re: Hermes Scarf Lovers' Kama Sutra -- Illustrated Edition!!!
Courtesy of Kallie Girl I love wearing a pocket square like shown in the picture. I learned how to tie it like this from a thread here on tPF from several months ago. ![]() Step One ![]() Step Two - Tie a simple knot first and then take the two ends and pull them. ![]() Step Three - Keep pulling ![]() Step 4 - Done ![]() Turn it over and fluff it and tuck the ends under. ![]() __________________ |

1. Tie the knot as illustrated by Kallie Girl above 2. put the knot at one side of the neck 3. Let one side of the scarf wrap around the neck, tie it, and tuck the remaining inside 4. let the other side go straight down |
