Hi Doc - I've been mia for quite awhile and just found this thread. I've been reading for the last few hours. This has to be one of the best threads EVER. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. INVALUABLE!

I'm going to order BR & O and get to work. I never use my black box birkin or kelly because I'm afraid of them and rain, coffee etc. I think you have cured me.

I'm also going to use BR on a rouge vif ostrich birk - I would like it to be a tad darker color, as well as conditioned.

Just can't thank you enough for taking all this time to help us out.

Best regards, CArol

You can use Obenauf's on swift... but I don't think it's as important as the blackrocks for spruce ups. The Swift is very well oil saturated leather as is and shouldn't require Obenauf's IMO.....i hope this helps?
Thanks, dear doc!

I'll just spruce it up with Blackrocks then.

All the best to you.

Just a note, if you want or need your bag to shed water like a duck then go ahead with the Obenauf's...As always do test a small hidden area 1st to make sure you like the results Have a wonderful weekend

Hi docride,
Is there any possible way to get rid of or make less noticable a black pen mark on gold courcheval leather?
Thanks for all your help!

spanoz - i am in no way an expert, but one of the things i have read is you have to deal with pen marks ASAP. there is a thread somewhere in the general H forum - you can do a search - of various methods people have used. i remember curdled milk and hairspray..... good luck! i am sure docride will know what to do, but i wanted to post in case she did not check in tonight.

Hi Doc, it seems I can't own anything leather without a consultation with the doctor!!

Soooo, doc, I bought a pair of Chanel boots that are calfskin but they are unusual to me in that they appear to maybe be a natural leather without a shiny finish on them. ?? To help describe them... they scratch VERY easily, which really doesn't bother me because of their casual style.

Soooo, my question is, how do I protect them? I don't want them ruined if I should get caught in the rain, etc. ... Is it safe to do a B & O treatment on them? I left this photo large so you could see the leather better. Just click on the tPF banner to see the full size.

Many thanks!!!!!

Hey there Kallie Girl ,
Gorgeous Boots! WOW!
I would treat them like box calf or vache natural> Blackrocks first and then Obenauf's 3x with heat on the last two applications... they should be good to go after than no worries...( go back over them with blackrocks for sheen if wanted after the Obenauf's) redo if they need it in a couple of months :o) Those boots are so drool worthy!!! Enjoy them in good health my friend! Hugs, doc

Hello there Spanoz, Is the mark ball point or felt tip? if ball point use a fresh white pen eraser and gently lift it off :o) If it is a felt tip or perm-ink write back and send a photo pronto OK? All the best, doc

Thanks so much, doc!!!

Regarding the heat... Do I apply the Obenauf's and wipe off excess and then use a dryer on medium heat? I didn't use heat when I treated my box Birkin so I am not quite sure how to use it...

After one regular (no heat added) using finger tips application do one Obenauf's treatment and wipe off the excess..(if you like the results just do the same again) or If you want super duper waterproofing/protection>>>go to the next step
Next apply the Obenauf's again and then use an hairdrier to go over it till it looks wet...(but not boiling hot) use medium or high heat about 5" away from the surface) then wipe off the excess... that's one treatment... next>repeat heat method Obenauf's treatment one more time :o)
Don't forget to use a paper towel wrapped toothpick to remove excess from the seams... this is just for looks... the obenauf's will save your stitches and seams from water damage also... Finally use a blackrocks final treatment to bring back a light sheen
Don't forget to show how pretty they are when you are finished. ,doc

Thanks, Doc. That's what I'll do, take it to my boutique. It is dull only in one area on the front flap, and I had wanted to use it this holiday season. Maybe they'll be able to do it quickly.
