A bag such as your may need a bit more than just an armoral treatment (buy in the auto section of your large chain stores or super market) I recomend FIEBING'S Acrylic Resolene (just Google this) it will put back a clear top coat on your bag :o) Also buy some wool daubers for application. If you need help with this when your products arrive just ask my dear friend you know I will guide you through it

Swift will love a basic conditioning with Blackrocks if dry..this is however, is a very moist oil saturated leather so a little is all you need if at all. If you need to touch up your corners use a color matched Meltonian cream...then finsh over with Blackrocks and buff. I hope this helps?

docride, anything bad in appleguarde conditioner or cleaner? I don't own any Hermes, but I've been using it on all my bags.

Working on your bag Rx:
Tips on working with your bag..open the bag up remove the locks and any removable parts..pull straps all out to the rear of the bag (if you have this sort of bag ie HAC's Birkins) Always start with the bottom of the bag (apply product sparingly in small circular motions) to make sure you are handy and satified with the application and product results. ALWAYS REMOVE EXCESS PRODUCT RIGHT AWAY and take your time..don't be hasty.. Use a nice fluffy clean old cotton hand or bath towel. also using small circular strokes. Next do each side again removing excess before starting the next section. After each side is done do the back of the bag and any leather attached to the rear also the handle if you have one attached to the rear.Always remove excess. Nest move to the top flap ( if you have one) again, removing excess. Finally do the front of your bag..by this time you will feeling confident..again remove excess... Lastly take a paper towel wrapped tooth pick and clean any excess product from the seams and carefully around the hardware (if needed) Finally do any removable leather that you took off the bag. Let the bag rest a bit and then take a fresh towel or a cotton flannel and buff away...till no residue is showing and the bag looks even..starting in the same order bottom,sides,flap,front... Here is a bag resting in the warm sunshiine absorbing some Obenauf's see how the straps are pulled out to the rear? |

I have almond oil that is used to clean musical instruments. Is it the same stuff? It says "100% pure almond oil" on it.
I might give it a try. |

i've got a 50 yrs old brown box kelly that has some cracks on the top flap and sides where the foldings are. i inspected them thoroughly just now and they're less than 0.5mm deep. my bag just came back from spa a few days ago and looks/feels much better than when i first received her.
however, i'm wondering what i'd need to do next to prevent the cracking from getting worse. and if i can "pamper" her myself without having to send her away for 3 months every now and then. i've tried meltonian before i decided to send her to spa a few months ago and it did help a little, but i'm open to any advice in looking after box leather. |
