Totally UNTRUE.

If you chance upon a Birkin overseas, you can always buy it!

yes, they still produce it. I saw one in France last month. It's small and kind of a backpack if I got it right.

Hello:

I've read in previous posts that there are no more wait lists for the Birkin but in checking with the Madison Ave store in NYC, they informed me that they (1) do have one and (2) are in fact taking no more names and therefore it would be "highly unlikely" that I would get one at this point. Has anyone encountered this? Any advice? I am trying to get a 35 black togo with palladium...

Thanks!

Hi ladies.... Not having the search function is driving me crazy! I tried going through some of the threads, but I have difficulty finding any information between sellier and retourne definitions for the Kelly.

Would be uber grateful if any of you ladies could clarify if sellier refers to the ridgide style and retourne to the more slouchy style? Thanks a bunch ladies!

You are right sellier is the rigid bag which has the stiching on the outside and retourne is the souple or slouchy one that has the stiching on the inside

I think in some countries they dont let you customize a bag, because they want to give their residents priority. I was in Germany on vacation last year and the SA wouldn't let me customize a birkin, even though i struck a friendship with her and dropped major $$ at the store:(:(

Since you own so many Birkin bags and know so much more then I do ( I am looking to purchase my 1st Birkin), I hope you can shed some lite on few things for me. I keep seeing on lin Birkin bags in 42cm, 50cm, 52cm and 56cm sizes. I contacted Hermes customer service and asked them what isthe largest size Birkin they make and they told me 40cm. If that is so then what's up with all the larger sizes?

The larger sizes are Haut A Courries (HAC), which looks very similar to a Birkin (I think they're a bit taller).

Default A HAC or Birkin or Kelly?

i chanced upon this website. buying for my wife a hermes for our anniversary, but am not sure what to get. i am given a choice of a HAC or Kelly? or should i just wait for a birkin which i think my wife would prefer. however, what are the pros and cons? i read somewhere that there is no resale value for a HAC, is that right? much appreciate any help. thanks

tlsc, I think it's wonderful you are getting your wife an Hermes bag for your anniversary. I think the choice between a HAC, kelly or birkin is very personal and every member here would give you a different answer. It comes down to what your wife likes when she tries it on and what type of bag she is used to carrying (shoulder bag vs hand bag, small bag vs huge bag). If your wife has mentioned wanting a birkin then that is what you should get her, but it may be harder to find than a kelly. I don't know what the resale value for the HAC is but I personally don't buy these bags with the resale value in mind since I plan to hand them down to my daughter someday. I can tell you that Hermes prices for new bags are only going up if that makes any difference! Good luck and keep an eye on the inventory thread in the shopping section as there are birkins that show up on the shelves more and more recently.

You should post your concerns on the regular Hermès thread so more people will see it....
