I am actually liking the toolbox. I think it could be a functional bag. I need a bag with a shoulder strap and handles, and this fits the bill. I actually prefer a handle that stands up straight like on the kelly and Bolide. I am not sure I would like handles that flop to the side of the bag. It could be a pain trying to grab them all the time. I had a bag like this once (the handles), and it drove me nuts. I would have preferred a stiffer leather for this bag. Wish it came in box.

Thank you for posting the first real life pics of the Toolbox and the Chaine bags, periogirl. Though personally am not a fan of these bags, I can see how others would find them appealing or functional. To each his/her own. It's what makes the world an interesting place!

I agree, and I thought it was Swift, but silk makes more sense.

I don't know either but if it wasn't the 80s, I'll eat my shorts. LOL!

I am not showing SO the pic of the milk carton. He hates the birkin because he thinks it looks like a box and he kinda liked the toolbox.

The Chain d Ancre is gorgeous in the leather! Thanks for posting. I also love the cover it's in! Not sure if it's functional for my lifestyle but love looking at it!

Of course he liked the toolbox - he's a guy! (and it really looks like a tool satchel!)
I sort of felt sorry for your SO when he said he wasn't crazy about your birkin - all four of us quit talking and turned to look at him like he was a space alien! <<tell him "hi!" for me>>

Wow that's a lot! I don't think I would pay that much for a non-birkin. And I was liking it too as an everyday bag - a bolide substitute.

They're gorgeous boots! I'd take any of those colors - if only my calves weren't so big. If you get them please post modeling pics!

I LOVED that moment! At least then he knew it wasn't just me. But I love my birkin and I'm carryin' it all the time whether he likes it or not.

His favorite one is my purple Guccissima charmy. ROFL!

Okay, sorry for the rant and for the long post I am going to write.

Yes,I absolutely agree with you India. I am not liking either of these bags.
The toolbox looks really ugly to me.

I am not liking as well the direction that Hermès is taking. It also seems to me that since Mr Dumas has died a few months ago, things are going very fast. Like if they had all this ready but they waited with respect so that they wouldn't do something that really disappointed him. Maybe it's just me but it is the way I feel.

Don't misunderstand me, it's not that I am not liking all the innovations.
As a matter of fact as on one hand I appreciate the fact that H is being traditional and timeless, on the other I had this feeling that they NEEDED to give a twist in order not to go out of fashion.

For this reason I am very VERY happy with some things such as the Shadow edition (even if I didn't like it), the So Black concept (wich I wish wouldn't be a limited edition), I love their bringing back the micro bags, I adore the Flash idea, I love the Bicolour idea and the Candy colours for ss 2011. Oh, I forgot, and tank you H god for making Barenia more available.

I just think they are going too far with the Toolbox and this other squarish "I wanna be Chanel" bag and a few other things wich may screw up the image of the maison, such as for example...
I don't like at all all this Alligator waive, with Niloticus being the new Porosus, and Porosus being a thing upon all the rest. Many of us H customers are discerning customers, and we not "that" stupid. Alligator can't be like croc, end of topic!
I don't like is their trying to make people love Epsom again by offering all the new appealing colours in Epsom only. Come on, it is well known that most people prefer other leathers, so what is that? Is it that they have to' unload a huuuuge quantity of Epsom leather or is it that they had a great price on it because their tanneries are finding it harder to sell it?

I would like to see a local celebrity make-up artist buy the Toolbox and use it as his make-up case.
