Robee, your food pictures always look amazing. Combine that with Pamella's cake and Lutz' tartare, and I'm starving, as usual!

MiaT, welcome back here!

Yep, a first stop at Laduree is probably the best plan, robee. You'll need the energy provided by that sugar rush . . . for Hermes!

Single digits, huh? I think the cashmere GM will be fine around the neck as long as you wear a coat with it, a warm coat! Gloves too, and if you don't have some, I'm sure Hermes can fix you right up.

Guess what? I did it!!! The J de H recipe doc is now over 51 pages long – now just need to reformat it and add the new pages to binder! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!!!
Three cheers for the industrious VickyB!

Good morning my friends in TPF.
It's a nice sunny morning in Singapore, clear blue sky with beautiful white clouds, and pretty windy too.
Went to the wet market early in the morning.
This is one of my favourite past-time (if can afford the time), strolling through the market place, seeing what is offered, and the people.

A little insight into a (my) Singaporean's Life.
Our wet market. It's really wet, think wet and fishy

My favourite vegetable store in Tekka Market has the best variety (both local and imported) that even supermarkets can't beat.

Capsicums, sweet potates, pumkins, zucchinis

Garlic, local vegetables, etc

Potatoes, onions, chinese parsley etc

Look at those mini pretty brinjal

wait, let's see my purchase from my favourite vege store.
maybe pasta and salad toight

look at the colours of the vegetables, never fail to amaze me. Like a nice colour palette.

Fried carrot cake with egg and sweet sauce, a local favourite.

Glutinous rice, another local favourite

And these are some steamed chinese kways (maybe pastries in your definition)
Salted, sweet and peanut
The crystal clear skin with turnip and carrot filings

robee, you're killing us with all the food and chocs!! Thank you for sharing!

Here's another trip report on Paris (with more on my blog)...

Place de Clichy (Baitgnolles, 17th Arrondissement), is situated where previously there was a passage in a wall surrounding Paris, called “Fermiers Généraux”, which was built from 1785-88. It was built in the second half of the 18th century, more for commercial than for protection reasons. “Fermiers Généraux” was a corporation of “tax farmers” who collected taxes for the monarchy, including on food, beverages, building material etc. brought into the city – activity stopped immediately after the Revolution. The wall was finally demolished around 1860 at the same time as the villages north of the wall – Montmartre, Batignolles finally became part of the City of Paris. The last traces of this wall had disappeared in connection with the opening up of new large streets and boulevards (constructed by Haussmann).

A walking tour of the Arrondissement provides an excellent opportunity to admire the different architecture of buildings from Impressionism all the way till Haussmann.

Beginning at the Place de Clichy, a crazy intersection reminiscent of Times Square with busy traffic intersections and giant cinema billboards, and then heading up the Avenue de Clichy, where artists of the Ecole des Batignolles such as Pissarro, Renoir, and Degas (known today as the Impressionists) used to live and socialize.

Remaining building from Impressionism, where the artists used to buy their paints and other art supplies.
