My gym routine is running at least a mile 5 days a week and some light weightlifting to stay toned. My motivation is simply wanting to look/feel better about myself at age 37.

I usually work out too hard and then get exhausted and quit after a few weeks, and I want to make a lifestyle change as opposed to only dropping weight, so here is my new toned down routine as listed in my "journey" thread...I'll increase as time goes by.
20 minutes HIIT 3 days a week 30 minutes walk with my dog 4 days a week Weight training 2 times per week On-Demand exercise class - Pilates/resistance work 1 per week My motivation: Healthy heart, lower cholesterol, manage anxiety, run a 5K, feel confident, be able to fit back into my nice clothes, have an easier time getting dressed, and to feel like I look good in pictures. I actually like most parts of my body except my stomach, so that is what I am working on. |

I work out 6 days a week and run everyday. I used just run 5-10 miles every day but recently decided for my marathon training I need to switch it up.
Monday- Usually my hill day and I run hills for about 30-40 minutes. I do sets of 4 then take a break and then start again. I do a warm up and cool down jog also. I end the work out with 300 crunches and some push ups. Tuesday- Speed work out days!! I do 400's and 800's. I end with crunches and arm weight exercises. Wednesday- Usually one of my two long runs. I run 5-13 miles. I then do crunches. Thursday- Speed work out and crunches again. Friday- I do a tempo run for about 5-8 miles then do crunches and arm weights. Saturday- My other long run usually 8-13 miles and some crunches at the end. Sunday- REST DAY!! What keeps me motivated is I love the feeling I get after I work out. I feel so good about myself and energized. I also loveeee running and love racing so I always want to be in shape. It also feels good to know I am healthy it is a stress reliever for me. My newest motivation is to qualify for the Boston Marathon. I am pretty sure I can do it but I am really pushing myself to accomplish this. I quit cross country in high school because I was too busy getting drunk and now I really regret that so I am giving myself a second chance at succeeding. |

whalenme you sound so motivated, that's great! Wish you luck for Boston marathon!
I try to go running 3-4 times a week. I usually run for 45 minutes then. Additionally I do weight training, either after my runs or on separate days (mostly 2 times a week for 30 minutes). My motivations is to look good and be in shape and I love the feeling after my workout, I'm a lot calmer and feel even-tempered then! |

This is a cool thread!
I go to the gym ever other day. The first thing I do is 5 minutes of light cardio on the elliptical, as a warm-up. I then do my stretching, followed by 30 minutes on the elliptical. My goal is to get over 5000 strides. Sometimes, I have little competitions with myself to go faster/ stay on longer. I love to push myself! I think that is very motivating. After that, I do 5 minutes of cool-down, which equals 40 minutes total on the elliptical. I then go stretch some more (I do a lot of stretching to avoid strain) and then I do my abs, which consists of some various core-strengthening techniques. I then head over to weights. I do a leg press, hip abductor and adductor, and leg extension. For my upper body I do the lateral pull down, lateral raise, chest press, pec fly, and bicep curl. I really like weights. Sometimes after this, if I'm still feeling motivated, I'll do some spinning or hop onto the treadmill, just to polish off with some cardio. Wow, I just RAMBLED big time! :P My motivation is just remembering the body I want to have. I find that getting to the gym is hard, but once I'm there I am set. |

I've been such a slacker, and it SHOWS!
Before, I was running Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday for 3-4 miles; Saturday was my long run day ... each week I'd run 5 minutes farther, so the most I ran was about 8-9 miles. It was amazing. I looked so trim and felt so good. I just fell off the wagon. Now I do pilates at least once a week, and run maybe one other day, but that's it. Now that winter is coming, I can't run after work, and I loathe running on the treadmill. My goal? Tue - 4 mile run; Wed - Pilates & 30 min speed walking on highest incline treadmill; Th or Fri - 4 mile run; Sat - Pilates & 30 min speed walking at incline on treadmill; Sun - 90 min yoga. I need to lose about 20 pounds to fit back into my wardrobe. It helps that my gym has personal TVs on all the machines. Music is essential for me, too. |

I LOATHE going to the gym but want to lose weight so I go:
Saturdays - squeeze in 45 mins after work just before the gym shuts. Monday - weights/strength training then cardo such as treamill/bike/ or rower ( not all three in the one session though.) Tuesday - same Wednesday - same Thursday - same Friday mornings I sleep. ![]() Sundays I take my little dog for a slow walk. Sometimes I run outside before going to the gym if I get up early enough. |

I have all my equipment at home. If I had to go to the gym I would never go! It's so convenient and I have a 50" TV in the same room so I can put in a SATC DVD and do the elliptical on the 30 min weight loss program and then hop on my stationary bike for as long as I feel like. I live in Minnesota so it is very nice not to be dependent on the weather outside for my workout routine. My poor bike has over 16,000 miles on it! I've had to scale back to 5 days a week do a sports injury.
My motivation is bacon double cheeseburgers and fries and still fitting in my skinny jeans! |

I hit the gym three times a week (Sun, Mon and Wed) for 30 min of cardio and then either yoga or pilates afterwards. I really should go more often and am gathering the courage to go to the intense cardio kickboxing on Tuesday evenings.

I love this thread! Reading it makes me wanna go out and start working out LOL!
I work out mon, wed and fri in the gym, I do 30min of High incline speedwalking or HITT. Then 25 min of light weight training and ab exercises. Each fri I go to the sauna after gym and really makes me feel relaxed and stress free. On sunday I run about 35min and 10min of cooling down. Running outside my ipod makes me feel great! Next week is my birthday, so i'm trying to look as good as i can, so I have cut out some sugars from my daily intake. |
