Actually, it's a bit of both when they are accurately measured.

If you are within healthy BMI ranges (which are pretty large, IMHO) then start looking at Body Fat percent.

I think the best way to test that is a tank-dip. I did it a few years ago and I was around 20% which is about my BMI

What are you trying to measure??

It's 18.8, used to be 18.5, but at 18.5 I looked so sickly skinny that my doctor thought I looked anorexic.

Anything between higher than 19 and lower than 25 is considered a healthy weight. I don't know that I necessarily agree with this, but that's how a BMI chart works, FWIW. :)

It's not always 19, it really depends, some doctors consider anything between 18.5 and 25 a healthy weight.

My BMI is 21, not bad for someone that had 2 babies back to back and will be 43 next month.

I agree. The best way to measure body fat is the water displacement method. I forget exactly what it's called I'd love to do this (do I really want to know?!), I think the local university here performs this test for a fee.

LOL....

I actually got the information from my friends and DH who is a doc. Also there are medical journals on it and research done.... And the WHO (World Health organisation) also recognises this.

Some people can never gain that much weight no matter what they do. I finally gained a few pounds over a couple years, thanks to growing up and finally getting hips lol, but I have a feeling my BMI will always be low.
