Very true

I know that I weigh more when I am seriously dedicated to working out, but my clothes fit better and I have less body fat.

Oh hey

Let's all post our Body Fat %

NOT!!!!!

Mine is 16.9 but my doctor doesn't think I am underweight since I carry a lot of my fat around the hips area (not good for my health!). He encourages me to do a lot of cardio and exercises aimed at slimming down my hips area. That and eating less junk food!

and some people are just thin (see: my husband, with his black belt in karate) no matter what they do, or what they eat!

... these people are irritating.

19.4, but I need to tone my hips and thighs since that's where I carry the majority of my extra weight.

Yep, yep. Body fat is a better indicator of being in shape and healthy than is BMI.

hmmmm.... Mine's a little scary, I'm keeping it to myself.

Not to sound all conspiracy theory, but have you guys ever noticed at over the past 10 years or so the range for a "healthy" weight has gotten narrower and narrower? And the the maximum "normal weight" has gotten lower? Now consider that there is a multi-billion dollar diet industry with many lobbyists at its disposal and an agenda to maximize profits.

My personal opinion is that there is too much emphasis on weight as an indicator of general health. Doctors like it because it's easy to diagnose. Drug companies like it because it makes people believe that they need expensive drugs to "fix" themselves when maybe they just don't fit into the relatively narrow bell curve. I think that as long as you feel good, eat well, move around, and your weight doesn't affect normal daily activity (climbing a flight of stairs, tying your shoes) that you're just fine.

Well the range for my height to be in "healthy BMI" territory is 110-150 pounds.

That's seem HUGE to me.

Diabete runs rampant in my family and even 5 lbs can keep it from setting in; at 20.8 BMI and being very physically active, I know I am pushing the limits of what I should weigh.

I agree. Last year in health class I took my BMI and was still in the normal range, but higher than I wanted. But then I was tested by squeezing this thing that sends electricity through your body to find how much body fat you have (forgot the name) and I was really happy with that number.
