Thank goodness there's nothing wrong. I went for an ultrasound, they looked around but couldn't find anything. Then I was sent for a further mammogram (area specific). They still couldn't find anything.

The final consensus was that it was a cyst. Apparently some cysts appear and disappear during times of your menstrual cycle, and are harmless.

I was told however, that they recommended yearly mammograms for me.

Thanks for asking, Swanky!!! And thank you everyone who PM'd and held my hand throughout...

To answer your question, thankfully the OP was fine.

I found this thread through Google and am so glad I did. I got the call last night that, after an initial mammogram, they need to do an ultrasound of my right breast. My ultrasound is tonight. A little scared, but I feel a lot better after reading the posts here.

Thanks!

Usually they know from the ultrasound imaging. If not, the next step is a biopsy. I have had this done and that requires a few more days wait time for result. The best advice is to just breathe! There is not point worrying yourself unnecessarily. Keep posting here and I will keep checking back to see how you are doing

I went for another mammogram on my right breast and ultrasound I'm thankful and happy to say everything is ok, I asked what area they were concerned about they said the top of my breast @ 12:00 that it's so tiny it's benign, but to come back in 6 months, is there any preventatives for it so it will stay tiny??

6-month follow-up is normal. If they were truly worried you would have been scheduled for a biopsy immediately. Although knowing you go back in 6 month will weigh on you, I think you are probably OK. At this point they are taking the "wait and see" approach. But you also need to be aware of any changes in this time and be proactive should something not feel right

Ladies, please, all of you, be sure to do regular breast self exams while lying down.

I neglected to do so and when I finally decided to check one evening I was surprised to find a jelly bean sized lump - it was cancer. I had not been able to feel it while standing and checking myself in the shower so thought I was fine. I wasn't.

My doctors had always told me to check while lying down, but I'd forget. Please, do yourselves a favor and do it right - while lying down.
