So since I have made this a hobby, I have decided to get a touch more hardcore gear wise. I thought my asthma would interfere but it has been controllable.

Compression leggings from Nike-do you wear with shorts or without? I have seen both but I am not sure what the proper etiquette is,lol.

Woot had a Timex watch Icontrol Ironman that sounded pretty cool. Anyone have one?

Hilarious email from the coach in my inbox this morning:

Good afternoon,

If you have received this email, you are on my target list to put together a sub 3:00 hour marathon & a sub 2:50 marathon training group. Some members of the recipients may already have broken these marks.

Marathons: Canberra (April), Gold Coast (July), Sydney (September) or Melbourne (October)

Please let us know if you are interested?

LVmom do whatever you're comfortable with. I see people male and female doing either.. I do think more men wear them with shorts than women though. I'd maybe just wear a longer top than I would with shorts.

.... and your response was... "HELL YES! I would if I could... if I wasn't injured, that is!"

I was interviewed for this book a year or so back, and spoke of both running for me in general and also in terms of dealing with and recovering from the bad fractures that prevented me running.

Wellllll it’s now available for download. Whoooo!

Lol, my response was pretty much something along the lines of: .................. omgwtfbbq, srsly????!
I was already aiming at 3:15 for next July's GCM'10, and I think that's fair enough. My 3:35 time would have been 3:25 if I'd not had to keep stopping for that butt spasm over the last 10kms. My pace didn't slow but I just had to keep stretching, it drove me crazy! I thought taking a further 10mins off that predicted was a big enough goal, but 3 hours...... sheesh. Sure, one day maybe. Hmmm...

Injury woes though are hopefully behind me, though of course will have to build up very carefully still. Just emailed coach this morning about getting a new program done and back on the books, can't wait!

Frankie, you are an inspiration to me. Now, I will NEVER hit times like you are. Let me repeat: NEVER. However, I think a marathon is in my future. I guess I do need to try it out. My DH won't let me out of my "verbal contract/committment" now that I've thrown it out there!

Hey ladies

It feels as if I've not only taken a break from running, but from life in general. I'm finally getting back on my feet after going through some major personal issues. Still have days where I don't feel like getting out of bed, and I sleep 12 hours at a time sometimes But I'm slowly getting back to my old self.

Philly is in 13 days! I cannot believe it. Since I was injured in September with patellar tendonitis, I started running regularly again in October after seeing a great doctor, who got me back on the road. For the most part my knee is doing great, occasional soreness here and there. Foam rolling = GODSEND.

I fly to Philly on Friday, November 20, and will be there through November 23. The race is Sunday the 22. I am looking forward to it, especially after a great training run this weekend - 14 miles at 30-45 seconds faster than goal marathon pace. My goal pace is a flat out 10:00/mile. We'll see what happens. I just want to complete my second marathon and have as much fun as possible while doing it.

It seems like everyone is doing awesomely. Frankie, I am so glad you're back to running! That is absolutely wonderful

I'll check in more often

Hey guys, first time posting in here :) I ran my first half-marathon in May and was happy with my 1:53 for my first race. I have my first marathon coming up on March 20, National Marathon, and have officially started training and I'm quite nervous.

So awesome to see so many people on here setting goals and achieving them, awesome job everyone!

Hi Cristina... glad to hear that things are getting back to a "better place" for you.

Can't wait to hear about your race. Congrats on even doing the right training to make it happen!!!

I did the National Marathon earlier this year, as my first 26.2. VERY well organized race, and a lot of fun! Best of luck with your training!

Welcome lcterp!! Great time, especially for your first half. Really, very impressive!

I see you are a Terp grad. We are HUGE Terp fans here. DH graduated a long, long time ago ('95) and we follow it all. Hoping for a good showing from Gary and the boys this season.

I am thinking about my first marathon. I wonder if the National Marathon is closed yet; I'll have to check that out.

How is training going so far?

Cristina I'm so glad to see you are back! I was worried about you. Sounds like your training has really picked back up. I hope everything in your personal life gets better soon.

Hi everyone. I went for my first "run" yesterday. I did a combo of Couch to 5k and another program that I found online- both are pretty much the same, just different running and walking times. It was hard! I am also recovering from bronchitis and I'm still coughing. I typically work out often but have not worked out in weeks since I have been sick. I felt really out of shape.

This morning I will be taking a Body Pump class but will be going for a run tomorrow morning. My yoga teacher offered to run with me. In a week or so, she will be teaching a class she calls Run Like A Yogi. She will train how to run using yogi principles and proper alignment, prevent injuries, etc.. I'm very excited and thrilled that I have added something new to my work outs.

I know I need to take it easy but I am definitely looking forward to running a 5k.
