Exclamation Sweaty Gym Person/No Towel...Yuck

How many culprits at your gym? I have tons at the 24 hr fitness. They (young, old, men and women) use the cardio and nautilus equiptment in their selfish way leaving disgusting puddles behind. Anyone else experience these lovely gym member's deplorable habits?

That's disgusting. It seems like they would clean that up when they finish working out.

Disgusting! There's really no excuse for not cleaning up after yourself. Have you tried reporting these people?

I see the regulars use their sweaty towels to wipe down the machines. I never get on without a good spray down.

OMG! #2 pet peeve at the gym, first one is smelly plp next to you! I go 24 hour too. Anyways...there are plp at my gym that sweat profusely on the machines (esp the step machine) and when they're done just leave!!! When I say "sweat profusely" I mean the ENTIRE machine is covered with sweat by the time theyre done. The monitors, steps, the sides, the handle bars and probably even the wheels. Its disgusting...24 hour needs a "clean up your sweat" sign instead of the "30 min time limit when plp are waiting" sign.

There is a big sign when you check in that says towels are mandatory but it's clearly ignored. I did complain to the staff after I was on the step mill for 45 minutes and 10 other users during that time on the machines next to me left their swimming pools...for those of you who know that step mill it is the one machine that really brings the sweat on. The staff said they would put individual signs on each of the 7 stepmills saying towel required but of course they never did.

That is so disgusting. There was a news report about E. coli being on benches. I actually complained at a gym New Life Fitness b/c they were using cloth towels over and over again. Some were clearly dirty but people would pick them up with their hands. I even saw someone wipe their face with one. I wanted to puke. Every time I came in I would get my own towel. I never touch my face with my hands while in the gym. Their reasoning was that people would leave paper towels on the floor. I have been to Bally's and the Y and they all use paper towels. Yeah I would definitely say something. I do not want to have to clean up some a**hole's DNA.

One time, I was at the gym (really occasional thing) and the guy on the bike next to me was totally sweating everywhere! He was wearing a light colored t-shirt and you could see the stains, it was pouring down his face arms etc. Unfortunately he did not clean the machine, but I saw many other people that did. Later, I saw him in the street and he waved hello, but I was really distracted by the fact that he hadn't changed his shirt.

I actually witnessed a guy on the very large stair step machine the one where the steps go around and around. He was sweating so much that he was wringing out his shirt full of wetness all over the machine, on purpose. After he finished, he did clean it up. I was ready for him not to so I could say something.

Well I do feel some relief knowing this is not just at my gym.....that there are inconsiderate people everywhere. Usually I send an evil look right after the person gets off the machine and doesn't clean but they clearly avoid eye contact. I have warned the next person about to get on so I don't puke from seeing their hand land in the puddle waiting for them on the handles!

I always sweat my butt off doing cardio at the gym - not so bad it leaves puddles but I always wash down the machine afterwards everywhere I touched it (or other people will touch it) with the provided spray & paper towels whether you see sweat or not. My towel is for the shower - not to use on some nasty machine.
