Default Sunblock For Leukoderma/Vitiligo?

My mother was diagnosed with Vitiligo many years back and it has taken over her whole face and most of her body now. Whenever she goes out into the sun even if it is for 2 minutes she gets severe sunburn even with SPF 40+. Are there any other sunblocks out there that are stronger or perhaps a medicated sunblock lotion strictly for those suffering from this same condition?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA!!

I can highly recommend Megan Gale's Invisible Zinc. I am incredibly fair with red hair, and have spent my whole life avoiding freckles. Normal sunscreen stops me getting "burnt", but the pigment of the freckles increase. This is the only sunblock I can wear and not have my freckles get darker. And since it was first released the make-up of it seems to have been refined so it feels better to wear. Hope this helps!

I think there are some SPF 70 products, but I cannot recall the brand. Maybe Google it? Or the knowledgeable people here can give you suggestions.

I think perhaps it would be best if she got a recommendation from her treating MD, most likely an internal med or dermotologist. This is a tricky condition and often has other issues associated with it, so best for her doc to help.

Sunscreens

The two goals of sunscreen treatments are: to protect unpigmented involved skin from sunburn reaction and to limit the tanning of normal pigmented skin. The sun protection factor (SPF) of sunscreens should be no less than SPF 30, as this grade blocks not only erythema, but also the affects of sunlight on the DNA of the skin cells. Sunscreen treatment skin phototypes 1, 2, and sometimes 3 (those who burn, then tan to some degree).
