Default Sugar and migraines?

Lately, whenever I eat something sweet (ice cream, cookies, etc.), I get a horrible, horrible migraine and I feel like I'm going to pass out. It doesn't matter if I have a ton or just a bite. This has never really happened to me before - sometimes I've gotten a little headache from it, but nothing so major. I'm not really sure what it could be - I have PCOS so my body doesn't exactly love sugar, but could it be something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know but I have a colleague who has started complaining about that same thing, so you're not alone.

Love your siggy pic, btw.

Lately I've been getting migraines everytime I eat chocolate (which is my choice of sugar). I feel your pain but I'm not sure why sugar causes it. I would start keeping a diary of everything you eat that coincides with your migraines, and any other events that could cause it (extra stress, sleeping pattern, alcohol consumption, etc). Good luck!

Maybe you're developing an intolerance to sugar, at least the processed kind? I know someone who used to throw up every time she ate sugar until she finally figured out she had an allergy. Maybe cut out white sugar and try sugar in the raw and see if you feel better?

I happens to me sometimes. It is only when I have too much sugar and my body is telling me to stop which I guess is a good thing!

I also used to suffer from migraines if I had too much sugar or just ate a lot of carbs on an empty stomach. Something about the spiking of the blood sugar, then your body responding and bringing it back down to levels lower than it was before you ate the sugar. In order to avoid this, you'll have to eat sugary things on a full stomach, or incorporate some protein along with the sugar.

I get hormonal migraines mid cycle and just after Aunt Flo. Being back on the Pill has helped somewhat but not 100%. Sounds like you have a trigger you need to eliminate from your diet....for me it's cheese and red wine...what a bummer, eh?
