Default Sore ankles... help?

So I admit i'm out of shape, so I've started reshaping my diet, and added walking to my weekly routine.

Currently, I'm going for distance, rather than speed, though I'm hoping to up the speed and then maybe add more distance.

And I've noticed that after my walks... (and I try to go 3-4 times a week)... my legs and leg muscles aren't sore or tired (still have to add weight training) but my ankles are tired & stiff and sore.

Do I need to change the kind of shoes I'm wearing, or is this to be expected becuase I"m around 40lbs overweight? Can I do anything to change it?

Thanks for any help or insight or suggestions!

Is your footwear specific to your task? If not you should change it because different types of sneakers are constructed differently for support. If the soreness is uncomfortable, take an ibuprofen and a compress for your ankles.

Before I lost 30 pounds, my ankles hurt all the time. Afterwards, not at all.

But double- dammit, I have gained half of it back recently. Back to work!
