and i am officially FREAKED.

it is 3 fing am. i go to the bathroom and TA DA! i am f*ing fertile?!!?!!! say what?

seriously inebriated. seriously holding an IUD in my hand. seriously AT A LOSS!!!! what do i do?

ETA: for the record...yes i know where babies come from. i’m just freaked.

I don't have an IUD, but I'd call my ob/gyn ASAP. Never heard of one falling out- aren't they supposed to stay put for years, depending on the device?

a bit less freaked this morning. sometimes in women without children apparently they spontaneously expell. not a happy surprise, to say the least.

Yeah they do come out sometimes in women that haven't had children, it is in the brochures. My doctor told me that some womens bodies just won't accept it, so technically it could happen to anyone. I would talk to the dr and look for an alternate form of BC! If it makes you feel better I am on the other end of the spectrum...mine is stuck!!!

It's not uncommon for IUDs to fall out--many women don't even realize it's gone! Just call your doctor and they can put another one in.

OMG that sucks! Did you feel cramps or anything? I've had a couple times where I had bad cramps and was worried it was coming out, but it's still there. How long have you had it in?

years! like four of them almost. i mean i knew theoretically it COULD happen....it just usually it will happen in the first couple of months if it's going to.

i'm just glad i saw it! i'd been kind of crampy and a little spotty which wasn't normal for this point in my cycle....so i decided to check the strings b/c i hadn't in a while and suprise! not in the right nether region area. and the couple glasses of wine i'd had did NOT help in the overreacting department.

hubby and i were talking about starting a family at the end of the year. we decided to use the horrid condom solution until then. i can't take hormones, it our new insurance doesn't cover IUDs so it seems silly to spend 500 bucks out of pocket for six months, and we're one of the rare couples that actually use the condoms when we say we're going to. not ideal to say the least. blah.

oh, that scares me now! I'm on my second Mirena and have had it in for a couple months now. I hope it doesn't fall out!

My doctor said that there isn't really an explanation. That sometimes they get loose, or the body just rejects them all together. But if you have had them I don't think that this is really a regular occurance!

I had 2 children and then got an IUD and it fell out! I freaked out too cause I thought I could get pregnant. Went to OB and got a new one put in! Sometimes that happens...

this happened to someone i know. she had a cyst in her va-j-j and it caused it to push out the IUD.
