Default Shoulder Injury from Sneezing?!

This is a really stupid situation. Four days ago, I had a huge sneeze. For whatever reason, my body snapped back while my right arm decided to stay its place. Somewhere around my shoulder/shoulder blade/neck/spine (not sure exactly where), it's hurting! It's been four days and the pain just keeps increasing. Now I can't turn my head to the left enough to see my blind spot properly. It feels sort of like when you sleep the wrong way, but I've slept on my left side ever since the incident.

Normally I'd wouldn't think much of hurrying up the healing process and let it heal in its own time. But I just started paying for my muay thai classes and missed the week so far because of it, and would like to get better ASAP so I can exercise again.

Help! TIA!

I think a chiropractor would be right up your alley. I've been having pain/tension and went this morning. I already feel 10x better (except for my inflamed cyst which he took the pressure off of).

I'm not sure how to fix it, but I definitely can sympathize. I had pneumonia (sp?) last year and I cracked a rib! The doctor said there wasn't really a way to "fix" a cracked rib other than just to let it heal. OUCH. I cracked it from coughing too much or too hard. YUCK.

I had the same pain after my morning stretch..not even like before working out. Like getting out of bed stretch. I had to go to the er and have 3 weeks physical therapy, but that really seemed to help! I would make a drs appt stat...best of luck!

Thanks! I just felt really stupid that a sneeze injured me. It's been over a week and it's still hurting. I'm wondering if a massage would help. I went to a chiropractor years ago and I don't really trust them to go again. One bone in my spine hurt for over a year after he cracked it repeatedly.

SoxFan - I hear ya on the cracked rib! I somehow sprained all but two of my rib bones once and the doctor just said to let it heal. It was painful just breathing normally!

I think it's definitely possible the injury resulted from a sneeze. I know a girl who dislocated her jaw when yawning Strangers things have happened! I hope you feel better soon!

Sneezing is a very violent body function.

Here is a interesting slide show of the anatomy of a sneeze.

you might have pinched a nerve.
