Default re-starting the gym

I joined a gym today (yay!) and its been quite a while since I had a decent exercise routine. I've never been "into" exercise but I am truly truly hoping that changes.

I wondered if anybody had any ideas to keep motivated and websites to track results etc? I'm pretty nervous and have my initiation this evening. I dont really want to pay the extra for the personal training sessions but is this the best way to go?.

Since I got married i've been putting weight on like a trucker, i really want to calm this down and starting loosing a few pounds and getting back to normal.

Thanks so much in advance!

i like to use dailyplate.com for tracking what i eat and how much i exercise. it calculates how many calories you burn and it definitely holds me accountable and gets me motivated!

good luck!

Toooootally with ya, here! I just started back to the gym too, and I'm hoping to begin loving it as well. I figure as soon as I get into a little better shape, I'll really love it. But anyway, after I got married, we moved to the middle of nowhere where there's nothing to do but eat (apparently) and I put on a lot of weight. So I'm right there with ya!

I wish I had the option of a good trainer (being in the middle of nowhere, the trainers available at my gym are senior citizens who volunteer--which is sweet, but....) so if you have the option, I'd definitely go w/ a trainer. They could help you get results. I'm having problems trying to get a routine that works for me, so a trainer would come in handy right about now

What gets me motivated is looking at older pics (when I was a babe, haha) of myself, and remembering how good I felt and how healthy I was when I was thinner.

HTH!!! Good luck!
