I chipped almost half of a front tooth away as a kid (don't play tag on lumpy ice kids). Just got it fixed a few years ago. The dentist filed it down a bit more and just "filled" it. He said it's just like a filling; I'm guessing it's the bonding thing the other girls' have mentioned already. It's great! Now I can smile fully again!

No caps for me. I like the option of eating an apple without problems still.

i have a chipped front tooth thanks to an ex who leaned in and kissed me with tons of force. ick. anywho...my dentist didn't recommend bonding as it can break off and need re-done. veneers/caps are what i'm looking into, since this chipped tooth is noticeable to me in photos and makes me look crazy. just my opinion

^^bonding can break off and need to be re-done, but its only like once every 5-10 years... he may just be saying that bc veneers and caps are WAY pricier. i dont know how big your chip is, but its something to consider

it's not a big deal, i just had mine fixed xmas last year, and it was quick, and if u insurance, it'd hardly cost u anything.
i was pretty sceptical at first, thought it was going to look fake and all, but it ended up perfect! like i've never chipped it in the first place!! they even buff the back so that it won't feel weird on the tongue!

I remember my dentist not suggesting caps for me cuz I wouldn't be able to eat an apple without it coming out. I've had my bonding stuff for over 5 years and so far so good.

It's pretty much like a filling. You need those redone after some years too cuz they fall out.

I've had a tiny chip on the side of one of my front teeth since I was a kid - I don't even know how it happened. I've never even considered having it filled in because it's so small and I don't want to make it worse by filing/buffing it so that the filling will stick. I didn't even know they could file them down, I guess I always thought that would be painful / make my teeth more sensitive or something My teeth are pretty short to begin with but the chip is so tiny it shouldn't take much, I'm going to ask my dentist the next time I go

I had a tiny chip in one of my teeth recently, and I was a really big baby about getting it fixed. My dentist finally convinced me to let him file it down. I was sure it was going to hurt like crazy (I have sensitive teeth, and I've had a few really bad drilling experiences in the past), but guess what? I didn't feel a thing! NOTHING! It took about 30 seconds, and he didn't even charge me. So definitely ask your dentist about it next visit - it's really easy!

I've had several. Dentist takes like 20 seconds to file it down. It's awesome.
