My bestfriend has PCOS and was told that getting her weight under control would help a lot.

She's since lost 50 pounds and has noticed a difference.

Belini im sorry to hear this.
Did your doctor say there is anything he could do or that would improve it? I hope so.
You can PM me if you need someone to talk to. I know it's scary any time you get news from your doctor.

I'm on a waiting list for a hysterectomy due to Intramural Fibroids and Endometriosis - I can't wait to get my life back, it certainly is now at the point where it is a debilitating illness. I'm also in the same boat as you regarding my weight.

For endo they recommend using hormones to stop your periods for 6 months - this also helps with PCOS.

Hope you get the treatment that's right for you.

This is exactly what I was told by my gyno. It really has helped me too. Most of the cysts are gone now, thank God.

I've got endo and had an abnormal cyst removed about a year ago. I try to eat healthily and cut down on dairy/red meat - even though I love both. I need to be on the pill to control the endo. It also helps me skip periods. But you really need to see what works for you.

Yes, I have both. I have dealt with these issues for at least 7 years. Apparently, I have cysts that are on top, outside of my uterus. I have the most painful periods, and symptoms appear at least a week before my periods. I get bloated, have cravings, am grumpy/moody, fatigued and have lower back spasms. Not to mention that I also have a Pituitary tumor that makes my body feel pregnant, with periods.

Many times, people with PCOS/Endo, don't feel too much pain, etc. I suppose this was true in the beginning. Be sure to keep in touch with your dr. I am thinking about having my uterus removed. I can't have anymore children anyhow. I am afraid of what this will further do to my hormones.
Best wishes.

I can understand this too, I started out a petite 130 at 5'2. Now I am 180!!!!!!! I can't believe this.I am told I carry the weight well, sure. I still am obese and it's hard on the joints. I used to be soo active. It's not that I over eat, it's the fact that my metabolism is whacked.
Be sure to get blood work done to be sure that you don't have any other medical reasons to be gaining weight. I now am pre-diabetic, I need to get my weight down also. Good luck to you. You can e-mail me if you need to talk.

I have endometriosis. I was diagnosed by having a laparoscopy in 2004 (they also did a hysteroscopy), and they removed some of the growth. Unfortunately, it's not curable but it is treatable. I'm going to go back on the pill soon, because this last year has been absolutely awful for me whenever I'm on my period.

The scariest part for me is thinking about having children in the future. I'm 23 but nowhere near ready to have a kid, but I was told by my doctor "the sooner the better" (endo can lead to fertility issues). My boyfriend and I aren't married yet, I'm still finishing up school, he's job hunting and considering getting his Master's, so we can only hope that when we're ready and if we decide we want children, it will happen (though we've already agreed we'd be open to adoption).

I have endometriosis also. I had an endometriotic cyst the size of a grapefruit removed from my midsection, as well as my left ovary. They used Lupron to get my hormones under control. The doctors said I should have kids as soon as possible also. I see a fertility specialist even though I'm currently not trying to conceive.

I had endometriosis & fibroids, had a total hysterectomy. They had to remove womb, ovaries also as one was according to the consultant "as big as a babies head" & they took the cervix as well not for any particular reason just procedure they told me I was annoyed to have to have this done so young even though my family was complete & sometimes wonder if there could have been any other treatments but hey when I came around from surgery the consultant said to me "Well thats 3 cancers that you cannot get" so its all good! It did plunge me straight into a premature menopause so they recommended HRT. I took it for about 1 year but then stopped as concerned about the chances of breast cancer. I really didnt have any bad symptoms after that just hot flushes.
