Question Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo

I'm curious if any of you ladies have ever been on this, and what your experiences are. This will be the first time I'm on BC and I'm scared that I'm going to be one of those people that get every bad side effect.

I started OTC lo about 6 months ago to regulate my periods.

I haven't had any problems; no raised blood pressure, blood clots, worse periods, etc. It's been wonderful for me- I lost a few pounds and the only PMS symptom I still have are cramps, though they are a lot less severe now.

I've been on it for 3 years; never had any problem with it! It totally regulated my periods. Before I got on it my periods were LONG and I had AWFUL cramps. Since I've been on it I have 3 day periods (very light) and no cramps. It's awesome!

I have taken it on and off for the last 11 years, my last go around was 7 years with only a 2 month break. It was the only pill I could take.I never had problem periods before, when I got off I had my problems. I never had any problems with acne and since stopping it I got the worst acne ever, but that was a milder problem. I have been through hell and back coming off it.
Its one of the milder pils on the market.

I was on this for about a year. It made me have less cramps and a slighty easier to deal with and shorter period. Close to the year mark I started having breakthrough bleeding at random times in the month. My doctor decided that my body just didn't work well with the different doses of hormones.

I'm now on Loestrin 24 (it's the same dosage of hormones throughout the month). Ive been on it for 2 years now and no problems! plus my period is only 3 days long and NO cramps what so ever! So it really just depends on the person and how your body handles the different hormones.

I had almost no problems. I just felt a little dizzy the first few days. I started taking it with a glass of milk instead of water and felt great.

It worked horrible for me. Weight gain, loss of sex drive, and it made me want to sleep all the time!

The thing about hormonal birth control is that it has different effects for everyone. So even if every person on this forum had no side effects, it doesn't mean that you won't. It's important to give it 3 months to let your body get used to it and if there are still side effects that are unbearable, then you can switch to a different brand.

There are so many brands that even if OTC-lo isn't perfect for you, you'll likely find another one that is. Good luck!

I was on it for a couple of years but I had to switch because I wanted to skip my periods once in awhile (if I'm on vacation or some big event). And OTC lo wouldn't let me skip my period, I would get my period the whole month if I tried to skip the placebos and take the next package right away. Now I'm on Yasmin.

The ortho line is the only pill (progesterone) that works for me. I take the monophasic one, but I've never had any issues with ortho. Everyone reacts different though to the different progesterones so if you do have any issues (break out, mood swings, etc) which are severe your MD will probably want you to switch.

I got off of it because I had mood swings while on it. I also broke out in sores in my mouth on the last week of every pack. I've had friends that have done well on it though.
