Default Ok I worked out... now what??

Ok so i worked out a few days ago. usually i just do some cardio because i have heard that is the best way to loose a little bit of fat. the difference between my usual routine and this last time was that i was with my friend at her gym. i told her that i wanted to work on my stomach and my legs so she put me to work. at the end it was two hours later and it was kinda hard to walk my legs were so weak. the next morning i woke up and my whole body was super stiff. it was hard for me to walk places and even get in and out of the car. i thought that maybe if i did a little bit of light moving and have a good nights rest that it would be a bit better in the morning. well, i woke up this morning and it felt the exact same. it is literally at the point where i can barely bend down without it hurting . does anybody have any tips on how to ease the pain of sore, overworked muscles??
thanks

Take a nice long bath - this will pass. In the past if I did too much weight work sometimes I could barely walk to my car and my leg shook on the pedals. Or my arms hurt so bad they'd shake if I lifted a pitcher. Once your body gets used to it it will take less time to recover. Make sure you stretch.

Yes, stretching is key. Also, for me, it usually hurts more on the second day after working out than the first. Not sure why. But the more you move, the better it gets.

Workout again. Like walking or yoga/pilates. It will get the lactic acid flowing.

I wouldn't recommend that until your muscles have time to heal a bit. IT sounds like she worked you hardcore and you're super sore. By the third day you should be feeling better. Warm baths will help and massages. The massage will hurt like hell, but it will help in the long run.
Next time, ease into it a bit more. There's no reason to kill yourself trying to get into shape.

All of the above.
Let your body recover & then work your intensity up at a level & pace you can handle. This is why a lot of us who do weights alternate which days we work different areas. Muscle groups like a day to recover before being stressed again, more if you overdo it.

Maybe some helpful things...
Light cardio of some kind the day after to encourage circulation
Warm Epsom salt !!!!
I read an article once that mentioned taking Vitamin C and E after strenous workout might help as well (whereas NSAID's like ibuprofen not so much)

Soreness often peaks at the 48 hour mark, so I'm hoping tomorrow you'll feel a little better!

If you keep working out you will find quickly that you will be much less sore. Don't stop.

massage - if I've worked out really hard for the first time in a long time I'll always try to massage my legs or arms or whatever before I go to bed. it can make a pretty big difference!

massage to help heal with icy hot or some sort of topical ointment overnight & the next time you work out, definitely stretch after you've warmed up your muscles for at least 5-10 minutes...and then stretch again post workout. this really helps.
once your body becomes used to it, you'll become that much more flexible.
hope this helps!

drink a protein shake.... the protein will help your sore muscles build back up, and make sure you're getting your potassium to help prevent cramping... and drink lots of water... stay hydrated!

when my legs are really sore, I still try to do a little exercise. usually a low-resistance, short stint (like 10-20 minutes max) on the elliptical makes my muscles feel better. especially because then I can get them warm enough for a really good stretch, which always helps me.
