Unhappy Nightmares?

Does anyone else ever have a totally random, exceptionally vivid, and stays-with-you-forEVer nigthmare?!?!?

I hate those kind.

Obviously.

It's 1:46am PT here in HOT-A$$ Northern Cali and I'm tired but don't dare go back to sleep!!!

I almost never have nightmares: what causes them?!?!

I have vivid dreams almost every night......

nightmares not so much.....

my mom always told me as a child that you often have nightmares when you overheat in bed... which sounds like what might have just happened to you.

sorry to hear it was so vivid.... i know how that feels!!..... you ok?

Coco, your Mom must be right

It's sooo hot tonight and my A/C doesn't get installed until next Tuesday

I'm ok, thank you!!

But I had to force myself to fully wake up so I didn't slip back in.

Ugh.

Are you able to control what you dream to any extent??

i don't know what kind of "dreamer" you are, what your tendencies are. but i've always been the kind whose dreams seem to be directly effected by what's on my mind, or what i'm thinking about, that day or week, or recently. so because of that, i'm able to sort of loosely "control" my dreams by concentrating on something i'd perhaps like to dream about, and eventually it shows up. not in a terribly specific way, but in general. for example if i think about a tropical island vacation or a beach a lot, and make an effort to concentrate on it, it might show up in my dreams in some way in a few days.

but that doesn't necessarily work for most people.

although i would definitely say that concentrating on happy, good thoughts, and letting yourself soak up some positivity wouldn't hurt when it comes to avoiding nightmares. perhaps something a bit more ambient too- music that makes you feel happy or calm in the background, watching something purely fluffy and happy on tv...anything.

i remember my dreams often, and 3 times over the last few weeks ive dreamed that i was a character in a horror movie. scary stuff. but when they wake me i think happy thoughts and believe it or not, those happy thoughts usually end up turning into a happy dream

i try not to read or watch anything scary before i go to bed. i don't want to get my neurons going in a negative way.

of course i've had dreams in the past that were scary and very vivid and some i remember years later. but i try my best to move on from them since they are not reality.

make sure you do sleep in a cool room. also, i heard an old wives tell once that if you sleep on your stomach you're more likely to have bad dreams. lol

I used to have seriously scary nightmares every single time I sleep. Fortunately that stopped when I learned that I have severe vitD deficiency and started taking supplements. No one deserves this, I know exactly how this feels I pray for you.

I have a recurring nightmare where I go into a room, and try to turn on the lights before the "monster" can get me, but the light switch never works. It always feels so real because turning on the lights is something that I actually do, it's not surreal or anything.
