Default Neck Pain

I've been recently experiencing major neck pain, any tips other than getting a massage that people have to help ease the pain?

Is this a new or a recurring problem? Try to think about the position you sleep in, the way you sit (especially at the computer), etc. If it really is bothering you, though, you should see a doctor, since neck pain can be quite serious and painful.

I'm having the same issue with my neck/shoulder. Turns out I have scar tissue on my muscle. Massages are a wonderful idea since they have health benefits. I have to get deep tissue in my area.

i sometimes get severe neck & shoulder pain. sometimes i have no control over my body b/c the slightest movement can set me back a few days and i'm in dire pain.

recently i changed my pillows. i use to sleep with two fluffy/soft pillows...no more.
now i use one relatively flat yet soft pillow. it took some getting use to at first but it's worked wonders.

Pillows are a good start. I have a memory foam mattress and pillow and that really seemed to help me sleep and my neck pain I used to have.

I have found that Active Release Techniques work well for my neck issues. It breaks up the fascia or scar tissue in the muscle. When it gets really bad I do Lidocaine and Botox injections when it's unbearable I get an Epidural (I have serious issues). That being said, what might help you is a home traction unit. I use one and it's great but if that is not an option try this: lay on your back on the bed and simply lay your head off the edge of the bed backwards. Do this daily until you can rest there comfortably for 10 minutes. My doctor had me do that before I had my traction unit and it helps. I still do it when I watch TV at night.....he-he...cuz it really feels great!!!

The chiropractor is the only person I have found who helps with my neck pain.

Its horrible, I sometimes get it. If tis not severe a nice hot bath helps. But if it carries on I would see the doctor.

my 19 y/o son swears by his memory foam tempur-pedic neck pillow. since he's had one he hasn't complained of neck aches. i even bought him one for his college dorm.

I'm going tomorrow for my scar tissue issue. Sort of nervous, but I'll try this before acupuncture.

I'm sorry to hear about your neck pain. I had neck pain for several weeks, which I learned came from how I sit at my computer. I changed my chair, so I sit lower, and moved the computer over a few inches. My neck pain disappeared within a couple of days. A friend at work mentioned that making the text bigger on her computer screen helped her neck pain go away. I hope you find the cause and feel better soon.

I had severe neck pain from a car accident. MD's said they couldn't do anything. When I couldn't take it anymore, I went to a great chiropractor and within a few weeks I felt almost good as new. My visits are less often now, but to keep good range-of-motion I get adjustments.
