Sorry to hear that but I think it is just day surgery & recovery is very quick. My mum just had a cataract done & she was fine that very day. Hope all will be well for her!

My mom had this. Depending on the 'angle' I believe they call it, it doesn't have to be a big deal at all, so I'm hoping your case is like mine!
What happened to my mother, she suddenly had a headache and REALLLY blurry vision. She went to the ER, they diagnosed Glaucoma, and the next day they surgically poked a whole in her eye with a laser to relieve the pressure (and some other more long term reason which I'm too ignorant to completely understand, or remember right now for that matter) and she was ok. This was like 15 years ago and she's been fine every since. You have to have it checked every 6 months or so. But so far no worries. Good luck! I hope your mom is ok too!

Cataracts and Glaucoma are quite different. Cataracts are so common if you live long enough; fortunately the surgery has become pretty routine. Your mom must have the acute glaucoma variety. My mom had it and it was stubborn to repair (she needed more than one procedure, but that's rare) but the surgeon did a great job and she was fine.
Best wishes to her and you too! |

She must be having acute angle glaucoma. It can be repaired with surgery and everything will be fine.

I dont know the different types of glaucoma, but my dad was diagnosed with it very early, and has had 2 of the laser-perforation surgeries over the years. he's also on an eyedrop twice a day (timoptic), which makes his eyelashes seriously LUSH. I'm not kidding, they're so long and he has to many, he has to get the trimmed at the barber!
![]() I keep telling him to ask his eye doctor if its okay for me to start using it, LOL! |
