Make sure you have very little dust in your house, on your bedding etc. Limit throw pillows, things like that. If you have a down pillow that you sleep with you might want to change to non allergenic pillow with pillow covers. If it is worse when you go outside, assess what type of landscape you have. Olive trees are big problems for ppl who have allergies, as is some types of grass. I know what you are going through, and severe allergies can really stop you in your tracks.

Im dying a thousand deaths....THEN one of my close friends calls last night and tells me that she is really sick. MS mixed with Lime disease. I cried and cried. Makes my sudden allergies seem like a f'ing walk in the park. I would take her pain over mine anyday. Reality check. I always find someone that is in worse shape than me. Anywho...any tips would be wonderful!! thx~~

Sorry to hear you're suffering. This is my second year of allergy torture, having gone 50 years with not even a sneeze.

I think different things work for different people, but the pharmacist suggested Claritin-D for my symptoms. It works okay, but I still suffer, especially at the end of the day. My problems are a little different than yours. I have constant pressure behind my eyes and am extremely fatigued.

Yesterday when I was at the eye dr. I asked her if there was anything else I should try for these seasonal allergies. She said, according to my symptoms, Claritin-D was the best. Plus she said to drink tons and tons of water to flush the histimines out of my body.

Good luck to you!

You might want to consider acupuncture. I had horrible food allergies that are now completely gone (I haven't gone to the acupuncturist in 3 years now) and my husband has seasonal allergies that he treats with one visit a year. Some acupuncturists are better than others, though. If you're in the NYC area, I can recommend a really good one.

Claritin-D (contains sudafed) tends to work best for me...but I only try to take them in really severe cases as the sudafed causes a lot of bad side effects such as increased heart rate, dry mouth/skin...be sure not to consume any caffeine if you take them or you will be crawling up the walls. But they will help your allergies

Jamie I just responded in a diff thread... but go see your Dr to get the right combo. It may take quite a few tries. Zyrtec D twice a day plus a nose spray works for my brother. I have been on every combination possible but have mine fairly under control now with no meds. Though I keep getting a bloody nose because my sinuses are dry and irritated

It seems to me that more and more people are suffering from allergies these days. Every where I go people are in misery. I don't ever remember it being this awful.

Hey Sunshine, I hope relief comes soon!!! Yes, my allergies popped up during college and now I am in my 30's and last year I started to exhibit asthmatic symtoms... Then this year not only I suffer from inhalants, my skin started to get allergic reactions!!! I can't wear lipstick anymore... Dr. told me that your immune system just gives up to the allergen one day, so it makes sense that older you get, you could get more allergies to things... Like Meg kind said, allergy sufferes have to sometimes try different meds to work. And if you continue to take one, your body gets used to it so you may have to change to another... I used to take Claritin, Claritin-D on congested days. Then moved to Allegra and now Allegra does not do much so Allegra-D on my worse itchy, stuffed days. I also use Flonase. Then I take Cingulair in the evenings. Also have an rescue Albuterol inhaler in case... I have only tried Zyrtec via samples, but my Dr. does not recommend that for my case.... Yikes huh? I hope you don't have to be like me!!!
On top of medications, we have two industrial type air HEPA filters, use Dyson HEPA vaccuum, and wear mask when I do any dusting... Covering your mattress with those allergen dust trapper, etc., etc.
I am sure what we eat, breathe, etc. makes some difference... I have not had a major allergy reaction, but when I do, it wears you out!
Good luck!

Allegra-D 12 hour each morning with Nasonex twice daily works wonders for me, it's really reduced my allergies.
I've spent years suffering while trying out various medications, sprays and inhalers so I really sympathise with you, allergies are awful. I hope you can get some relief soon.
